KABUL, Afghanistan -- Pakistan is to give the Taliban rulers of Afghanistan three days to hand over suspected terrorist Osama bin Laden or face U.S. military action.

The ultimatum comes as Pakistan makes eleventh-hour diplomatic efforts to prevent a military strike in the region.

We can compromise. They can hand over half of Bin Laden.

Which half?

And to who?

[Clinton would volunteer for that job since he heard that Ladin has a concubine of four wives and some daughters -who would need 'ministering'.]

Oooops - sorry the English, I am not "wondering" but "worrying", of course.

I would go futher than this. I would tell the Taliban that I don't want bin Laden, I want his head. Just his head, although the whole body will do in a pinch. Why put the onus on us for trying him? Why let us make him a martyr? Let the Taliban execute him and turn the remains over to us for verification.

And if the leader of the Taliban balks at that request then I suggest that his office be blown up or his car be shot to pieces by persons unknown. Then when the dust settles we go to whoever is in power now and say, "We made a little suggestion to your predecessor concerning bin Laden. He didn't go along with it an met with that unfortunate accident. Now, how about you?"

"Frightened Afghans also continued to flee, ignoring the Taliban's calls to stay and wage a jihad against the United States and its allies if Washington attacks."

Gee. What a shock. Suppose the vaunted "Holy Warriors" of Aghanistan watched Desert Storm footage after all, eh?

Self-preservation isn't a sense restricted to Westerners, it seems. :)

I am afraid that just "asking for bin Ladin" would not work - the ultimatum (or whatever it is) should better be formulated as the famous ultimatum that Austro-Hungary issued to Serbia after assasination of arch-duke Ferdinand in July, 1914: dismantling of all terrorist facilities, entry & free hand for our prosecutors at your territory, control over your armed forces, communications, budget... simply a form of protectorate in exchange for not bombing you to pieces. Unacceptable? - Well, you said it...

Terminate with extreme prejudice...PERIOD...time for diplomacy is long past...just think if we had a diplomatic solution to Pearl Harbor - the Japanese would still have an army today.

It is time to remove all military strength from the middle east or we will live to regret it - once again!

First, let me thank you and other Czech citizens for your show of support. It means a LOT to us right about now.

As to your "media"? Shoot...............no sweat. Look, something we here know and know well is that media types the world over are liberal, leftist scumbags. The same is obviously true in your country, and we know that they don't represent the REAL citizens or how they feel.

Here in America, we finally have an alternative to such leftist claptrap called Fox News Channel. They're thriving, fairly kicking CNN's commie butts in the ratings. There's a REASON for that, and their success will be emulated in other countries soon, I have no doubt. God bless.

This is NOT a solution. Even if we get bin Laden, there'll be hundreds more ready and willing to carry on his cause. We must annihilate ALL of them to ensure our continued safety and freedoms. This includes CHILDREN who, when interviewed, say they are eager to die in order to kill Americans. They're indoctrinated with this from birth, and those with charismatic & evil personalities, e.g., Hitler & Clinton, will rise up. We will never be safe again until the threat is totally wiped out.

Well, are the FoxNews on Channel and/or satelite? If so, I should look around for getting them to my set. But seriously: Could someone of you guess what proportion of US citizens really understand what is going on and that the retaliation has to be REALLY painfull (preferentially not for us but for them), since otherwise we're in BIG S#$T? You know what I mean: the support here in Europe was overwhelming in the beginning, but many of my co-citizens hope it was over after a few vigils and masses. The same seems to be true with many media, and I was really happy as hell when I hit the freerepublic forums yesterday (lost A LOT of hours just reading before filling the reg. form). Before, I watched the news mainly on internet, 'cause I have job wirth computer and so could do it at work (well - I was working long time but the work did not seem to get done ;-), and all the "major" sources (NYT, BBC, Washington Post, major Czech newspapers) seemed to me increasingly pacifist and defeatist. Well - I wish I could be pacifist, nothing wrong about this, but only when noone attacks you... Cheers, Konva
