Excerpt from Drudge Report:

U.S. Rep. Martin T. Meehan (D-MA) scoffed at reports Air Force One was targeted by terrorists - the reason Bush aides have put forth to explain why the president delayed his return to Washington after Tuesday's attack on the Pentagon. 'I don't buy the notion Air Force One was a target,' said Meehan. 'That's just PR. That's just spin'...

(202) 225-3411 Meehan office number...

If you've already written an e-mail, please read my posts above (thank you!) for some advice I've conveyed directly from a high-level congressional staffer's own words.

Just called, it at least felt good, don't know how much good it'll actually do, here was conversation:

Liar: Representative Meehan's office.

Me: Yes, I'm calling in reference to Mr. Meehan's comments about Air Force One not really being in danger.

Liar: Yes sir, Mr. Meehan's comments were taking out of context. Mr. Meehan fully supports the President and has released a statement on his web site, do you want the address?

Me: Sure, sure.

Liar: http://www.house.gov/meehan/

Me: Uh-huh, ok. Well, can you explain to me how "I don't buy the notion Air Force One was a target - That's just PR. That's just spin." was taken out of context???

Liar: Sir, I wasn't there, I don't know what exactly what was said, but Mr. Meehan fully supports the President, and those words were taken out of context.

Me: Well, it sounds to me that you're just doing PR, and that you're just doing spin?

Liar: No sir, his comments were taken out of context.

Me: Well, I want an apology from him. A lot of people are upset about his comments.

Liar: (starts to lie again)

Me: The only hope we Americans have is that everyone will pull together to fight this thing, and we don't need congressmen undermining the President of the United States at times like these. He should apologize.

Liar: Thank you sir, goodb...

Me: Slam! (the phone in Liar's ear that is)

'I don't buy the notion Air Force One was a target,' said Meehan. 'That's just PR. That's just spin'

You, sir, are an affront to the spirit and dignity of the United States. You are in fact accusing the President of lying about the threat he confronted on Tuesday, with absolutely no evidence to support your claim and no basis in fact. You are attempting to undermine the American people's faith and confidence in our President at a time when we desperately need such faith and confidence.

So I'll join him in the lowest circle of hell as one willing to call a spade a spade and tell the truth about how thie BS works in Washington. AF1 was no more targetted then I was - they are understandably looking to explain his shameful jaunt across the country in the middle of the crisis. It was ok for Laura Bush to stay in the bunker, it was ok for Cheney to stay in the bunker, it was ok for Rice to stay in the bunker. Hell, Rumfeld even stayed at the pentagon, but Bush, for whatever reason, was unwilling to come back to Washington. Now they are spinning you and the nation with BS about the terrorists conveniently telegraphing their intentions in this one single instance. They didn't give a warning about *any* other target, just AF1.

Hey it doesn't matter, what's done is done. I completely support whatever action Bush takes, but don't feed me a line about AF1 being targetted. I just hope when the going gets rougher in the coming months, that Bush shows a little more spine and a little more perceptive about how his actions are perceived.

Here's what the puke has posted on his homepage.

"I fully support the President during this difficult crisis. I have full confidence in his ability to lead us.

It is important that our nation speaks with one voice. All of us need to work together to fight our common enemy, the cowards who carried out these unspeakable acts. Along with all my colleagues in the House, I have put partisan differences aside."

It's in large, bold lettering. I have emailed several friends in Boston. They are very angry at his public statements and are going to let him know about it.

God Bless America.

Sir Allen - thank you for transcribing the conversation. It's really helpful to see this kind of behavior in writing, so people around here know what to expect and how to counterattack and re-but these staffers who have most CERTAINLY been given spin/pat answers to use in reply. Good for you!

So, what your're saying re: Bush's flights, "I don't buy the notion Air Force One was a target, That's just PR. That's just spin."

Did I take you out of context, Rep Meehan?

We were stuck in MA near Hanscom AFB because of an Education with Industry for the Air Force assignment in Burtlington, MA. Longest nine months of my life and I have had three kids! I detested that state like no other. The night the moving trucks left the driveway, we got in two cars with three kids and drove across the State until we crossed the state line as I vowed to never spend another night in the State of MA. My husband at that time thought I was nuts, but he was not about to disagree! I have vowed to never even drive across that state again and I have kept that vow!

So, according to you, the Pentagon, the World Trade Center are targets, but there is no way Air Force 1 was a target. That has to be the dumbest post someone has made here in a week or more.

My e-mail to Meehan:

Did you say this you worhtless traitor?

U.S. Rep.

I suppose next time the Secret Service should first contact Congressman Meehan first about the security of the commander and chief when we are under attack. Or did you stay in the capitol building when it was evacuated because you knew better than the Secret Service?

Are you on Bin Laden's payroll?

It is clear to me sir that you are either a traitor or a coward!

Worthless left wing bastards should be thrown out of the bomb bay along with the first B1 bomb load delivered over Kobul!

Oh, clamboat has been busy stinking up other threads with similar sentiments. He/she appears to be a disruptor and should be ignored.

It seems obvious that at least a fifth hijacking was averted on Tuesday, and no telling how many others were aborted for whatever reason. We will never know how many targets these filth actually were after. What they did is appalling enough.

I just spoke to some women at Meehan's office. I asked whether he was quoted correctly. She said (surprise, surprise) that he "said many things, and those were quoted out of context." I asked her in what context would his comments be appropriate? Her response--"I don't know." I asked whether Rep. Meehan had any special information that would allow him to make any judgment whatsoever regarding the peril facing the President. "No, he had no such information." I then asked why, given his complete ignorance, he felt impelled to make such scurrilous comments. "I have no answer for that." I then told her I was furious that her boss would behave in such an irresponsible, damaging way in such tragic circumstances, to which she replied "you said you were going to ask me a question not give me your opinion." I said I asked the questions to make sure that my opinion, unlike her bosses', was an informed one. I then told her she should be ashamed for working for such a man and hung up.

Don't waste time calling their phone numbers.

Go to an internet site, find some phone numbers from voters in their district and call them.
