From what Alamo_Girl posted it would seem that the Clinton Administration was not interested in doing much regarding continuing strong Security Measures!!

Thanks for the info.
New York Post 8/13/99 "...Just last week, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, speaking on the first anniversary of the deadly U.S. embassy bombings in Africa, vowed to wage an all-out war against terrorism. This week, President Clinton turned that promise into a joke by offering to commute the justifiably harsh prison sentences of 14 FALN terrorists
Not to mention making Arafat and the leader of the IRA regular visitors to the whitehouse. But really, has anyone heard the clintoon pardons mentioned anywhere else ?

and where may I ask are the iraqi republican guard members that bushtheelder allowed into the country after desert storm?

Nice try.
What they "watered down" was done in by a strange coalition between the right and left, not by Republicans. Tom Daschle even complained that he was concerned about the Constitutionality of what was proposed.
What was watered down were provisions for greater no-knock raid capabilities, permission for extensive wiretapping without the need to obtain a search warrent, and mandating that all chemical manufacturers domestically put tracer chemicals in their products (which would have crippled the industry without any tangible benefits).
As usual with Clinton, he proposed something that he could demogogue, but was nothing more than a deliberate encroachment upon the foundations of the Bill of Rights coupled with some plans to make money for his financial backers.

I pray that our lawmakers stop enacting--or at least "water down"--such laws in the future.

We all pay a high price for a free society. May our enemies suffer their just desserts, and may we continue to be free...

Ohhhh.....NOW the FiBi's find the bad guys ?!?!?! They have no problem shaking down law abidding citizens for papers and fees yet they can't seem to locate the real threat.
FiBi's domestic intelligence is based on criminal elements yet I heard a interview with Oh'Rielly and some Christan in Action that the CIA can't use any criminal HUMINT ????
Seems we're kicking our own collective @sses here or am I wrong ??
Stay Safe

In our justice system? I'm afraid a lynch mob will have a better shot at justice in this instance. I'm sure they all came from broken homes and their mommas didn't love them. Boo hoo hoo....

Time will tell whether we can get the act together without oppressing the citizens of the United States!

Looks like the FBI is not agreeing with the story of the LA Times!
Investigation of attacks goes global
Excerpt from the MSNBC story linked here:
U.S. law enforcement officials, who spoke with NBC News on condition of anonymity, said that they have identified 18 hijackers, all of Middle Eastern descent, who are believed to have died in Tuesdays attacks after taking over the four airliners that crashed.
The officials discounted reports that approximately 50 people were known to have supported or participated in the attack, saying it was too early to know for certain how many people had been involved.
