WHY RETALIATION MUST BE SWIFT, MASSIVE AND BRUTAL
Breakfast Table Consensus | September 12, 2001 | Gargantua

Posted on 09/12/2001 9:48:50 AM PDT by Gargantua

As politically incorrect and globally unpopular as this may be at first blush, America's military response must be huge, and brutal. We must take out huge, significant strategic targets in Libya, Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and anywhere else in the world that terrorists are allowed to hide and train.

America must make the world, Arab and otherwise, understand that, if this ever happens again, they will all pay... again. And again. The greater the loss of innocent life in these other countries, the better they will understand the clear message. Police your own, or pay more dearly than you are prepared to pay.

Any other resonse will be a sign of vulnerability, weakness, of ineffectual softness. We dare not be so perceived by the madmen of the world any longer. They need to know that we're the bullies with the nukes, and we'll fry them to paste if they even think of doing this again.

All of them.

In the Marines, the D.I. will make everyone do another 100 push-ups, or run another 5 miles, if any one of the platoon screws up. This way, all of the "boots" learn to watch, look after, and police one another.

It is the only way to stem this insanity. The message must be clear, and unmistakable:

Allow terrorists to train on your soil, and you die. Period.

There will be those who claim that this is too severe. That this will, in effect, reduce us to the level of those who have attacked us.

What they don't realize is that, failing such a response to this event will do the same exact thing, except that it will also invite more such assaults in the future.

Fast, brutal, and massive. Make an example of every country which we know to aid and harbor terrorists. And make it really hurt. So bad that they never let another group of cowards train on their soil.

Fry them to paste. We have nothing left to lose except that which we have already lost.

We are better than they are. We have regard for innocent life.

Yes, we are, but there is a good point here. No matter what we do, these people and others like them will never love us. It is time actions which will make us feared and respected. Continuing our policy of molly-coddling terrorists in any way will result in neither.

Wrong. You start involving countries that may indeed train terrorists, that have no connection with the bombing, and you are inviting retailiation on an even larger scale. No, the best thing to do is focus in on one target and get as mideavel as humanly possible. Bin-Laudin must be targeted and taken out, not just boambing as symbolic measure. He has to be killed, period. Anything less is absolute failure.

Your argument assumes that there exists such a thing as a country which trains terrorists, but had nothing to do with these bombings.

Such a country does not exist. If they harbor and/or train terrorists, then the same blood is on their hands. If not from yesterday's assaults, then from tomorrow's.

If not from an attack on America, then from an attack on Americans (or others) elsewhere. Nothing short of what I propose will send the signal that this will not be tolerated any longer.

They are busy raising generations of future Bin Ladens. Taking only him out will not solve the problem.

This is not a judicial issue, involving perpetrators, victims, and justice, but war, against the institution of terrorism, worldwide. This includes the IRA, the Algerians, Osama bin Laden's gang, Arafat's gang, Quaddaffi's gang, the Shining Path, Hussein's gang, Entifada, Hezbollah, you name it. It's all or nothing.

Likewise, the UN must be left out of the equation altogether, because they will only curtail our efforts as they did in the Gulf War. Many of its members comprise these terrorist nations. The age of appeasement is over.

I wish I remembered to whom this quote should be attributed, but alas, I do not:

This will not end until they learn to love their children more than they hate us.

My letter to President Bush and VP:

Dear President Bush;

I am outraged at the thought of what will surely be 10,000+ victims of this cowardly act.

I am disturbed that we have not already responded. Is our response being tied up in committee re-evaluating, for the Xth time, the accuracy of our intelligence report summaries!?

YOU know where these terrorist organization reside. YOU know who they are. YOU know those who harbor them. It does not matter if they are responsible for the WTC event. They are terrorists! They are terrorist supporters! They are terrorist harborers!

Yesterday the bar was raised, in terms of sheer scale, for future terrorists to aspire to and surpass. Similar and worse events will surely follow unless we STOMP THESE EVIL VERMIN AND THEIR CHILDREN INTO THE DUST, SPIT ON THEIR CORPSES AND DANCE ON THEIR ASHES!

ALL THESE VERMIN MUST BE ELIMINATED WITH GREAT PREJUDICE!

I do not care to spend countless billions on conventional missiles and weapon systems to achieve this means. I do not want to sacrifice another American human life to obliterate these pieces of shit from the face of the earth! OUR COST HAS BEEN ENOUGH! VENGEANCE should be EXECUTED with the least cost to us as possible. We have given enough yesterday. We have been the most positive power on the face of the earth, and the most generous. With some people that is not enough. Now we must turn into their worst nightmare...WE MUST!

If you do not immediately authorize the nuclear annihilation of Kabul, Teheran, Baghdad, Damascus, Gaza, and any other surrounding and terrorist supporting areas you ensure that our children and the human race will brush closely with NBC disaster in the not-to-distant future!

The bar was raised....humans always go for bigger and better. LETS GO BIGGER AND BETTER BEFORE THEY DO!

I'm for TERRORIST NUCLEAR ANNIHILATION NOW!!

Most Sincerely,
griffin

I disagree.

We need to dethrone the leaders and take over the govenments - ala Germany and Japan. Screw stategic targets. That's what we did in Iraq.

And - give a wink and a nod to Israel.

What happens if Ashcroft unleashes the ATF on any "militia" groups in the U.S. because they have been accused of being terrorists?

This is not too severe. Because this is the only language they understand.

If you think that we can keep our hands clean and deal with this filth then you haven't lived very long. We must destroy their ability do breathe. Any failure decisively to act will do exactly what you fear. You are thinking like a rational human being. You are dealing with animals.

Nonsense. War is hell. We carpet bombed with the best of them. We nuked them if necessary to project our message. Where did you get that we are better? If they even smell that message, thousands of more Americans will die.

This is our Jihad. Thousands of Americans died the Shahid. The Fatwah must claim Bin Laden, The Taliban Authority, and all those who show sympathy for these sons of satan.

We MUST unleash the dogs of war. Let Bin Laden and his camel riding buddies share eternal hell with the devil.

God bless America and our patriots.

With all due respect, are you nuts? Libya, Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan, Iran AND Syria must know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that the US will retaliate with EVERYTHING IN THEIR ARSENAL if they aid and abet enemies of the US. Period, end of story. Where have you been for the last 24 hours? This is a WAR. Remember WW 2? Remember Pearl Harbour? This is worse.

If the present governments of the above countries are decapitated (liquidated, killed, extinguished), their major cities incinerated, American Military Governments established and ALL THEIR OIL PUMPED OUT, how are they going to retaliate???? These are third world hell-holes. What are they going to do, throw rocks??

Please, give me your retaliation scenario.

We should choose out targets carefully. There should be no problem making a short list of targets since we already know who are our enemies. Once we know where we want to strike, then we should do so in a way that the our enemies, and the world, will not soon forget.
