In this jingoistic mood the government must be watched closely as they curtail the liberties of the people in the name of fighting terrorism. When the government starts fighting something, we lose. Unfortunately, it is not until we have gone too far down the path do we realize how much; and by that time a constituency has be built to preserve and defend to the death the new status quo.
Look at everything they have been fighting and look were it has ended. Fighting something and winning does not seem follow, as it should, we seem to fight to lose. The only victors are the thousands of new government employees, several libraries of oppressive regulation and the Constitution in tatters.
Am I being too pessimistic?
My colleague's relative is safe and sound, but I just found out that my fiancee's cousin was on the American flight hijacked out of Boston.
Let's pray for Bush's resolve, and for the courage to do what must be done.
imo, no. not in the least.
i wrote in an email to a friend this morning that today
would likely be harder on our fellow citizens than all
that we saw yesterday because yesterday there was the
numbness that comes with being dumbstruck.
today that numbness will begin to wear off.
the bright spot, if i may be excused for using that term,
is that the anger this will arouse in our populace will
impress indelibly upon those in DC just how MANY of us there
are, how pitifully FEW of them there are, and that many
millions of us are armed and pissed and looking for a fight.
then again, as a nation, we may have passed the point of having
that kind of resolve years ago, and i'm merely engaged with
memories...
The fuzzy thinkers who will plead for "understanding and yatta yatta" will not find a citizenry who will be willing to be forgiving-especially when the death toll numbers start rolling in.
We have to remember that Pearl Harbor killed far fewer people.
Oh I hear ya ... I'm listening to Chuckie Schumer right now .. someone should shut that man up .. like NOW!!

so much for american sovereignty. we are already a 'one world government'.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We are moved by the alarming news and crisis that our country is facing.
This, the greatest nation, founded in the belief that "In God We Trust" & the
"Land of the Free". Please have mercy on those suffering, hurting and in fear,
and give wisdom & strength to those who are assisting. May the forces of evil be
broken by your power and may we humble before thee, our strength and refuge.
Give wisdom to all our President & our leaders and bring your comforting peace
through the power of your Holy Spirit. Help us here to reach to those that have
been affected by this tragedy. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.
