Sorry for the vanity, but I have a friend who is in Toronto. She really wants to drive home via car but is not sure if the border is open. Can anyone tell me if it is or not?
Some of the passengers on overseas flights which were diverted to Canadian airports have rented cars in Canada to get to the US.
There was mention in a Toronto paper today that the traffic is backed up several kilometers from the border because the US Customs and Immigration people are taking much longer than usual to clear cars across.
Your friend should have a full tank of petrol and plenty of refreshmenta aboard and be prepared to spend a long time in traffic.
