Just above the text box into which I'm typing, it says, and I quote, "NO racist or violence posts."
Ladies and Gentlemen, FReepers of every race, CREED and color, I urge an immediate moratorium on the nauseatingly bigoted comments directed against "Islam," or "Muslims," or any negative reference to anyone strictly because of his or her religion. FR is no place for this trash, and I'd like to publicly call on the Esteemed Moderators to hunt down and erase all such tripe from FR.
Well, being a Christian I believe that Islam is not righteous, but your point is made. I don't want to attack innocent, peace loving muslims, but I have a LOT of questions about their religion. Like, how can the violent and non-violent muslims believe the same thing? I mean when Christians do bad things, they are not practicing Christianity or doing it in the name of Christianity. But Islamic "fundamentalist" do bad things, totally believing in their cause and their religion, and that it's "holy" yet other muslims condemn it - kind of? Something just doesn't jive. It's more like they all believe the same thing but some act on it, some don't. Please explain. And while you're at it explain how one can murder 5,000 people and go to heaven for it.
Safeena was raped and jailed after she refused to abandon her Christian faith
Her crime, the cause for all her trouble, is being a Christian in the Muslim nation of Pakistan. Her crime has brought scars, both to her body and to her mind, but they are scars she willingly wears because of something else she chooses to wearthe name of Christ.
Her given name is Safeena, and she is a 16-year-old in Pakistan. As a Christian, her opportunities for education and employment are limited. Christians in Pakistan are often only able to find jobs as street sweepers or brick kiln workers. Last year she was working as a household helper for a wealthy Muslim family, cooking and cleaning to earn money to help support her own family
Parvez Masih, Pakistani teacher falsely accused of Blasphemy
The Lahore High Court has denied bail for Pakistani teacher Parvez Masih. Masih is accused of violating sub-section C of Pakistans rigid Law 295, blasphemy against the prophet Mohammed.More than 200 Muslims poured into the courtroom of Justices Khalilur Rehman Ramday and Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday morning. Fifty Muslims present reportedly attended the bail hearing to testify on behalf of the defendant, Masih. One of them was Mohammed Yaqoob. When questioned by the court, Yaqoob admitted that he was not an Imam. Imams are Muslim religious leaders who often lead Islamic calls to prayer. The court remarked that it values the testimony of an Imam more than ordinary Muslims. Ruling that the testimony of Yaqoob was legally ineffective, the court then denied the bail request of the petitioner, Parvez Masih.
Parvez Masih was the headmaster of a successful Christian school in a village not far from the city of Lahore.
Pakistani Christian Ayub Masih has until August 24 to make a final appeal to Pakistans Supreme Court after the Multan High Court rejected his appeal last week. Ayub was sentenced to death by a judge in the Sahiwal district in 1998. He has been in prison since being charged with blasphemy in 1996.
Ayub was charged with blasphemy after reportedly making derogatory remarks about Mohammed. He has said that the charges came only after a property dispute in his village.
So if there are any "moderate Muslims" out there, why aren't they denouncing these attrocities and calling for their brothers to respect Koran?
Wring your hands over real barbarism and intolerance, as noted above.
This because they have read their koran and they know what it calls on them to do. While none muslims who claim that there are good muslims have not read the koran and only repeat what the libalrel media has told them.
Do yourself a favor read a koran even if you've never read you Bible or Torah, it's like a Mien Kamph in that it spells out what to do to none muslims. Know your enemy.
Your right...and my emotions run amok...but what the hell are we gonna do...you tell me...I apologize for such blanket dispersions
What can we do? Our intel folks will smoke them out. SOCOM to take out the people. Our missiles to wipe out their camps. Take them out and any govt who aides them.
And then hang a nuclear sword of Damocles over Mecca and Medina, while we're at it.
That's just my humble opinion and hope.
As for your comment that nobody's racist - lol. sure, whatever you say.
How God deals with them after death is His own affair; it would be presumptuous for you or me to speculate on their fates (or ours, for that matter). In any event, the Church teaches that because God's natural law lives in all consciences, even pagans can know and follow Him, even if only in part.
And while you're at it explain how one can murder 5,000 people and go to heaven for it.
Beats me. What are you implying?
I suggest you think about who might want to start World War III. I don't think it's the Arabs.
Who wants to start it?
That they are "racist?" That they are afraid?
And how about the imams throughout the middle east who have perverted Islam by refusing to condemn Bin Laden unequivocally? Are they "racist?"
And thank you also for your not-so-subtle insinuation that I too am racist. It shows for everyone what your real agenda is.
It's safe to say that when someone reserves his "outrage" for a couple of insignificant racists on a message board while 10,000 of his countrymen lay dead, he has another agenda.
Please try to focus on the real tragedy here: the deahts of 10,000 of your countrymen. There will be plenty of time for scolding later.
Also, while searching some Islamic sites, I found most of them that are updated frequently had messages in opposition of the acts this week, and I know many mosques (sp?) have held candle light vigils this week. Here is one web site I found with a message from a "renowned Muslim scholar": http://www.islamonline.net/English/News/2001-09/12/article25.shtml I have no idea how widespread these feelings are among the majority of Muslims, just posting to add some thoughts to the mix.
Anyway, I'm going to be trying to find out a bit more about Islam and the Quran (I took a history class on the Islamic world in college, but my knowledge is minimal and my memory fleeting), all I've heard so far are quotes, which may or may not be taken out of context from both sides of the issue. I'd like to research enough to make a strong opinion of my own. Keep the information flowing!
Be safe, and I have confidence everyone here is doing what they can to aid in the relief efforts right now.
