Could today's events be just a distraction and prelude to a massive attack?

The only kind of massive attack I would bet on would be a massive attack against Israel. It wouldn't surprise me at all...

Are you implying that this is a "minor attack?"
To: cbkaty
My biggest concern would be that these attacks may have included some element of bio/chem warfare that is yet undetected. I pray that with all they already must deal with, that those in S. Manhatten have not been slimed by anthrax at the same time.

That was my thought too. This much effort and coordination from a bunch of monkeys who have trouble blowing up an unguarded hotel in some desert village? But who? Follow the money is what they always say...Chinese assistance?

Yeah, sure, you always prepare a sneak attack by launching a smaller sneak attack. Oh yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Ya sure, you betcha.

Man...I'm not usually frightened by things, but something like this...I fear that something else is in the works. And that is exactly what these filthy terrorists want you to be. Direct your fear into anger. Calm anger, but real honest anger.

Are you implying that this is a "minor attack?" Absolutely not!
I am "wondering" if an attacker might attempt to "tie-up" emergency resourses..... before attacking again.... and what if the attacker is not the obviuos "Islamic" group? What if the attacker has the resources to carry out another attack?
Again...I am just putting forth the questions......

Massive attack?
These are cowards we're dealing with. They will not directly attack. They have done their damage and will scurry away to their rat holes. Hopefully Bush will exterminate them.

I think that for this to be a prelude to a massive attack on someone, it would mean the massing of forces. No one in the middle east has a navy or air force capable of this, and if it involved ground forces, it would have been detected by satellites/listening posts/recon.

It's possible, but using this kind of attack to spread biological agents is really innefficient. If this were a biochem attack, there would probably have been a carrier on an aircraft (thereby infecting many on board) traveling to NYC, then they'd probably go to major tourist sites. This would infect more people who would take the virus to all the corners of the U.S.
Here, you have alot of heat which would kill off alot of the germs, plus those that were/are infected are either going to be kept isloated (a morgue, for instance), or won't travel far (NYC/D.C. emergency personelle).

And while the apparent success of this attack may launch other terrorist groups into taking some action, it is extremely unlikely that those behind this attack have the resources for any sort of serious follow up. They have apparently expended a number of unusually competent types--I mean, seriously, how many terrorists would any one organization have who could fly these planes into the targets. The probabilities are that they have "martyred" their best and most competent.
Still, eternal vigilence remains the price of Liberty. No one would have thought that any of the recognized terrorist organizations had the competence to pull this off. We dare not let our guard down.
