Whoop-dee-do. "We" don't "owe" the U.N. anything, as far as I can tell. Since they have no power over any sovereign nation other than what that nation decides to grant to them, then they can't really lord anything over anyone. If all or most of the member nations decided to pull out today, then the whole circus would fall apart; and currently it's only being held together by cowardice and intimidation, among other vices.

In other words, they aren't 'demanding' anything from us, they're 'pleading' with us.
