Planned Parenthood Tries to Block State's New 'Choose Life' License Plates

CHARLESTON, S.C. Planned Parenthood of South Carolina asked a federal judge Tuesday to block the state from issuing "Choose Life" license plates, saying the new tags are unconstitutional.
Attorney Peter Murphy, who filed the lawsuit, said it's a violation of free speech for the state to provide a forum for one political view without providing a chance to express opposing views.
"The fact that only one choice is being provided by the state is exactly what's wrong," Murphy said.

This is my first time posting an article, (been here awhile, though) - checked to see if it was already posted, then let it rip - did I do it right?
Anyway, maybe the state should offer an alternative plate: "Choose Death".
That would be the (literal) opposite of the "Choose Life" plates.
And if they are really pro-choice, why are they trying to take someones choice of marker plate away?
Enquiring minds want to know.

I wonder if New Hampshire should offer an "alternative" to "Live Free or Die" also.
And what would it be?
"Submit to the Government or Die?
Suggestions?

Isn't choosing life part of planning parenthood?

I would like to see states stay out of the bumper sticker business in the first place. It can get silly at times. Where does it end?

I agree. It's a joke here in Indiana to see an unsafe driver with a "Kids First" license plate. I'm such a curmudgeon that I wouldn't mind a return to simple, one-color license plates instead of the ones with scenery on them - too cluttered-looking. I like New Hampshire's "Live Free or Die."

Where has my nation gone? ... Now it is a political statement to oppose the holocaust slaughter of unborn children. Planned Parenthood ought change their name to planned Barrenhood. Wonder what the governmental central authority would say about a plate that stated "Pay your taxes" ... probably pass a law to put it on all tags.
There is an easy solution to this idiocy: purchase personal ownership plate to put on the vehicle that say what the hell ever you want! Creating this contention is ridiculous and detracts from the serious truths being suppressed in this nation. I have no sympathy for these artificial controversies.

Ditto to no slogans. I'd also like to see real complicated and difficult to remember numbers so when I'm trying to make a fast getaway,.........
The radio humorist Jean Shepard said that his father told him that. Of course with a stealth GPS module planted in your car or brain, it's a moot point nowadays.

In the interest of fairness, the Choose Life and Choose Death should both be offered. It seems that abortion advocates are very sensitive of their position. Must be a guilt complex.

When I moved to Florida and went to get plates, every single vanity plate pushed some left wing program (support government teachers, support state funding for the arts, support environmentalism etc..etc). The only exception was a plate helping to fund a space shuttle museum. There was no outcry then. Only when "Choose Life" plates were issued did what was on plates become an issue.

Isn't choosing life part of planning parenthood? You are introducing reason and thought into a discussion where it has no place. Stop clouding the issue with relevant comments.

Gary. If you're a "Shep" fan, and I suspect you are, you'll enjoy this entry from a Shep web page I found.
"My favorite memory is after moving to VA in 1972 from LI NY, tuning in late at night to his WOR show and listening to him read the mottos that appeared on the states' license plates while a Sousa march played in the background."
That is truly classic Jean Shepard stuff!

I would like to see states stay out of the bumper sticker business in the first place. Agreed. But if suckers who like whine about high taxes want to fund gubmint programs through voluntary taxation on vanity plates, let them. And, a case such as this is where the rubber meets the road. True face of the death industry is being exposed. Given the right amount publicity (not guaranteed what with our pro-death media) the abortion industrialists are bound to lose more here even if they end up winning the court case...

On another related topic, I was visiting Chicago a few weeks ago, and was reading through the Chicago Reader - a local newspaper listing events, concerts, etc. There was a Planned Parenthood ad showing a computer screen and the mouse pointer clicking on 'Undo'. The tagline said something along the lines of 'wishing it were that easy.' I must say I was shocked.
Bottom line - Planned Parenthood is an advocate of abortion, and nothing else. They do not promote life, bor do they advocate anything other than irresponsible behavior before and after pregnancy.

How's this for PC justice: Issue a "Reparations Now!" plate.
Use the revenue to establish a fund for Jesse Jackson's minions.
Now, who will buy these plates, and who will reap the benefit?
