Another case of the creeping socialism taking over our lands. Of course, they asked new President Bush for help at the very start of his administration. Wonder why they never asked for help from Clinton.

They might as well have asked klinton. They won't get any help from George, that's for sure!

I still have hope. This monster is getting bigger and bigger. Sure is scary to think that the takeover is going on right under our eyes. Even scarier to think the government is part of it. I prefer blaming the environmentalists.

I guess Captain you and I and many others have been asleep, or should I say lulled into a false since of security, to allow this behemoth to have gained as much ground as has been reported. Clinton was just the tip of the iceburg of how far we have fallen.
Now we can b!t ch and complain about Bush or we can hopefully put a fire under him and our state Reps and say it's time to do something. Til now it's been the EnviroMentals doing all the finagling and making a lot of noise about something being extinct or endangered.

Thanks for the ping. Mr. swheats was just mentioning about beach closures yesterday, he couldn't believe it has actually happened and people are being displaced or is disenfranchised?

Did you are anyone you know give input to be one of the 1.6 million comments who are in favor of the Roadless policy mentioned by EarthJustice.org
Earth Justice Action Center"The Roadless Area Conservation Rule is one of the most important conservation initiatives ever undertaken. Finalized by the Forest Service in January 2001, it calls for protecting 58.5 million acres of the wildest remaining national forest lands."
According to the article we have til September 10th to be heard. How can we use this information to work for us? Unless I'm clueless, it would seem as though all listings and conservation initiatives should be stalled until there have been a full accounting of what's been happening to people and their land.
I realize I'm not a politician so I might not be seeing as clearly. /sarcasm

Two years ago Will Steele, former director of the National Marine Fisheries Services said, 'We will control who raises a garden and who raises livestock.'" And control is the operative word.
No matter how compelling the cause, no matter how eloquent the argument, once these people get a little shot of that control under their skin, they're hooked for life. And that's our problem in a nutshell.
Control is the bastard child of power, and power was supposed to be carefully regulated by the people through a set of Constitutional seperation mechanisms. And this is why the modern progressive relegates the Constitution to an anachronism. Because it prevented them from getting their next fix of power, and without power, they were denied the high of control to which they've become so accustomed.
It's a slippery slope, greased by the media, the politicos, and the wealthy liberal elites. And one by one, it would seem they're pushing us over the edge just for the raw thrill of watching us die.

"This monster is getting bigger and bigger." Yes, this monster is getting bigger.
It's feeding off the hard-earned money of the American taxpayer as much as it can, but it has hundreds of millions of dollars in reserve from some very wealthy individuals who would like nothing better than to see America become a global biosphere.
For all who haven't seen this:
THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL ROOTS OF THE ESA !
The main reason the monster is getting bigger is because it's ONE big monster.
Our efforts to defeat this monster are fragmented, with various sparsely funded groups around the country trying to fight it as best they can.
If we don't get organized, the monster WILL eat us!
We need to make FR the base of our operations, and let protest groups like this one know about our efforts.

Well I haven't - 1.6 million? Sounds artificial to me. Wonder if they are using the park entrance records and counting them as votes?
Looks like it is too late for much input. Any suggestions of what we can do.
At least we have many people here that do care. Surely there is someway to effectively chip away at this monster.

Beach closures? Hm..... They wouldn't do something to lure sharks to the beaches would they? What an effective way to ruin the tourist business on beaches?

All I can think to do is send an email to Norton and my representatives - I do NOT support roadless forests because of the rights of Americans to enjoy their forests and because of the need for roads to handle forest fires.

In talking to a cohort who says he has been hearing about this for 15 years I got this suggestion. Make it simple so that people can easily see what is going on. Most will not get all involved or believe the "sky is falling" because they don't understand the issues. Even he did not realize that about the constitution being subverted.
I think this is true because people get their general views from the network news, the newspapers.

"As I've said on numerous occasions, we are at war with radical environmentalists across the country who are doing everything in their power to abridge our individual rights as citizens...While ours is an uphill fight, we can never give up, because protecting the environment and providing for our communities need not be mutually exclusive goals." Herger concluded. If Wally-Burger is stupid enough to think that our 'environment' needs protecting, then he is too stupid to serve in congress. Give him the Boot !!

"The town of Orick has asked President Bush to help them reopen the beaches and to save their community in a letter sent to him several months ago. To date, the President has ignored their requests." Need more be said?
