MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — There is a new sheriff in town, in Madison County, anyway.
According to election night returns, Challenger Brett Jones has beaten incumbent Sheriff Kevin Turner. General Election Results — Nov. 3, 2026
With just over 99 percent of the votes in, just before 10 p.m. Jones was ahead of Turner with 81,937 votes to Turner’s 72,345.
The former Navy SEAL Jones ran his campaign looking to increase collaboration between towns and the sheriff’s office. He also said that he opposes automated license plate readers.
Turner was first elected in 2018. Jones will be the first openly gay sheriff in Alabama history.

Madison County, Alabama (Huntsville area) has tons of people from out of state who moved there for work. They don’t know how to leave behind the mess they created that they’re moving away from.

Huntsville has a lot of out of towners moving in for the defense industry jobs and the lower cost of living. More Northeasterners and the dreaded Californians are moving to the South in record numbers.
Madison County, Alabama (Huntsville area) has tons of people from out of state who moved there for work.
