Republicans Lose Texas House, Keep Senate
The Texas Scorecard ^ | 11/3/26 | Sydnie Henry

Posted on 11/04/2026 8:25:59 AM PST by Round Earther

As part of Tuesday’s blue wave, Democrats took control of the Texas House. Even though the Texas Senate will be helmed by Democrat Vicki Goodwin, the chamber itself remains in GOP control.

The Republican losses in the House exceed 20 seats, but final results are still pending.

When the House convenes in January, the members first action will be to select a new speaker.

Few months back, here on FR, I made a Texan mad when I told him Texas would eventually go blue. He said there was no way. Lol. Lololol.

The new gov. will not allow law enforcement to co-operate with the feds on immigration. The solution will be to station US troops on the border in tents.

IMO, this is a reflection of demographic changes in Texas.

“Texas is increasing full of non whites”

It’s not the non whites. Tons of whites voted blue. The fact is Texas has gone down the tubes for just about everyone who isn’t upper middle class no matter what color they are. The Rs have been in power for the last 30 years. The problem is clear.

The fly in the ‘Rat ointment is county government and county SHERIFFs; they are elected officials that work directly with ICE (and are funded for it by the feds). Seriously doubt that state police (DPS) will allow themselves to be the jackboot enforcers of whatever Governor Wetback thinks she has in mind. And with the Tx Senate — the more conservative Texas chamber — remaining solidly in (R) control, there ain’t gonna be any laws passed that do it. Just my 2c.

She-it is the newly elected Lt. Governor, who “heads” the Tx senate in much the same way as VP Vance “heads” the US Senate.

“And with the Tx Senate....”

With a radical Lt. Gov. from Austin.

I think many Texans want things to get better... but dont have the stomach to do the things necessary to make it happen... i.e. ICE enforcement, build prisons, etc.... It seems mean to them.

The Tx. Lt. Gov. is akin to the VP and Senate Majority Leader being the same person. They are the power player at the Capitol.

It’s a shame that Dan Patrick lost. He is a good man. All the losses in state administration hurt, but that one is going to hurt bad.

Nevertheless, there are enough conservative Senators to make Vicki Godless’s job a real bitch — just like she is.

What can the senate Republicans do?

The Lt. Gov. controls what bills are considered.

The House has to pass bills and it is controlled by Democrats.

The Gov has veto power.

Guys like him have normalcy bias. Texas was Democrat as hell for decades, right up until the late 80s. LBJ (Speaker, Veep and Pres), Connally was Gov, Mark White was governor until 1987, Jim Wright (Fort Worth area congressman) was speaker of the house until 1989. But younger Texans have zero memory of that. Anyone under about 50 thinks Texas has always been Republican.

But Perry, Abbott and other Bushies scoured California and New York and heavily recruited businesses to relocate to Texas. They brought wives and daughters. And that wasn’t enough, the tech businesses they recruited to relocate needed cheap labor. So they imported half of Hyderabad on H1Bs.

Here’s Abbott dressed like a Hindu celebrating Diwali two weeks ago;
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/us-texas-governor-celebrates-diwali-at-official-residence/articleshow/95056576.cms

He was a squish on the Biden border flood. He was a tyrant on Covid. He let the BLM riots run wild. He didn’t lift a finger on the drag queen pedos at libraries with children. He sent 1000 National Guard to DC after January 6, propping up the narrative.

So finally GOPe treachery has borne it’s perfect fruit. Texas population increased by 7% in the last 4 years alone.
And here we are.
