A former Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) scientist won a legal victory this week after losing his position following sexual misconduct allegations made by a female colleague. Dr. David Sabatini, a former MIT biology professor and prominent biomedical researcher, was awarded $6 million in damages Friday after a jury found that his former colleague, Dr. Kristin Knouse, had defamed him.

In 2021, Sabatini lost his position at Whitehead following an internal investigation into allegations made by Dr. Kristin Knouse, a younger colleague who worked at the institute.
The pair met in 2012 and began a sexual relationship in 2018, which ended the following year, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. Knouse later alleged the relationship was coerced.

MIT put him on leave to do an investigation, and latter he just left, rather than deal with the situation. NYU hired him in 2022, but ended it before he started, because of intense campus protests against him. It is said that he will never get a job in the U.S. again.
Billionaire Bill Ackermann funded a lab for him in Czechia, so that's where he is now.
I haven't read about the trial in depth, but it seems part of the decision was because she gave texts to MIT, but in the trial, additional texts came out that the jury thought told another story.
I should have added. He definitely broke MIT rules, by dating a subordinate.
Hopefully the only job she can get is at Starbucks.
Sounds like a woman scorned.
Yes, good, souond advice: Avoid office romances.
At many places they are prohibited.
Hell hath no fury...
Since no institution in the United States will hire Dr. Sabatini because of the defamation by Dr. Kristin Knouse, Kristin Knouse should be banned from working in the United States.
What's good for the gander is good for the goose.
She is still working at MIT. She never lost her job.
Don’t fish on the company’s dock.
Never dip your pen in the company ink......never
But it seems like he broke up with her, them she texted her friends that she was going to get millions and get him fired.
Personally, I think he was very stupid to risk his career dating a subordinate. That alone was grounds for being terminated. Possibly curing cancer is not going to get you a pass in academia.
True. And that goes double in academia.
She is still working in academia. Managers aren’t allowed to date subordinates, but they allow subordinates to date their managers.

You know who doesn’t believe all women?
Women themselves.
I guess they BOTH should have been fired from MIT originally.
Thou shalt not use thy rod on thy staff.
This is great!
I am an SB graduate in Biology from MIT, and a PhD graduate in molecular and cellular biology from Harvard.
Unlike when I was at MIT, the Institute requires all freshmen (regardless of major) to take Biology courses. Kristin Knouse, an assistant professor of biology at MIT—among other things—teaches one of the freshman Biology courses. This should stop! Knouse is a feminazi, a creep, and a disgrace to MIT and our profession. And she’s not the only one in and around MIT Biology!
Dr. Sabatini remains a Nobel Prize candidate. Feminazi accusations must not be allowed to block his candidacy!
Plenty of good and stable marriages have resulted from professors dating lab assistants, junior academics, etc.!
Correct. That was wrong and stupid, even though it was consensual, because it left him open to the very charge she leveled against him—that the affair was a misuse of his power over her as her academic mentor. She kept it going for over a year, though.
I'm glad her texts revealed her true motives for accusing him of predation, which was that it had been a mutual hook up, and when after a year or so she started pressing for commitment, he wanted to see another woman.
Hook up culture (sex without commitment) is a no-win for at least one of the parties in a couple most of the time. In this case, they are both losers. His career was ruined, and now not only will she be radioactive in academia, but she has effectively reduced her chances for a viable relationship with a man. Who could trust her? And she owes $6 million to her victim. Hope it was worth it.
