The Pentagon is preparing U.S. military bases to keep operating for at least 90 days without outside support as it prepares for the possibility of a major war that could cripple power grids, disrupt supply chains and threaten critical infrastructure on American soil.

The new requirement is part of FORTRESS, a broader military initiative aimed at ensuring American forces can continue fighting even if the civilian systems they depend on are disrupted, according to documents reviewed by Fox News Digital.

"We don't want to rely on standard civilian municipal infrastructure to run our national defense. We just simply can't. It's an intolerable risk," Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell told Fox News Digital.

Stanley Kubrick pretty well covered that in Dr. Strangelove.

Ballistic missile submarines survive. Went with that for 80+ years.

Fortress bases, forcing weapon manufacturers to have plans to switch to emergency production rates, having more than a single line of supply for crucial materials.

Finally we are taking the threat of war seriously and not treating it like a sporting event always on an away field.

The Ukraine war has helped bring a lot of maturity and warrior thinking back into style around the world.

"With proper planning, the computer definition of a profile of the population could be matching, with a ratio of say, ten females to each male... They would have to be selected for their sexual characteristics, which will have to be of a highly stimulating nature."
President Muffley was appalled, but General Buck Turgedson was intrigued.

I know this article will sound like fear porn to some but to me this is just common sense, and I hope our military would have as many bases covered as possible no matter the situation

We should covertly insert liberal white women into our enemies lands and destroy them from the inside.

Liberal women and jihadists would bring them to their knees.

A base being self sufficient is also helpful to surrounding populations since the military likes to always stay busy and they would also like to help the civilians outside the gate if conditions permit it in an emergency.

Ditto. Finally evidence of planning beyond the "Just in time" mentality that has created the problems we now have logistically.

A base being self-sufficient is also helpful to surrounding populations...

Quite true, especially from a medical standpoint.

Except, of course, if there is an Obama-Biden-like admin sitting in the WH at the time - one reluctant to never let a crisis go to waste.

Medical was number one and also a base would want to send out water buffaloes, and charging stations, MREs, lots of things if the base situation allowed them to.
Just having their people doing anything and just the fact of their trucks and equipment being seen on the streets would be a huge reassurance to many if things were really dire.
