Serbia's Aleksandar Vucic conceded defeat to a student-led protest movement in a historic election on Sunday that ends his long grip on power and heralds a new political era in the Balkan country.
The streets of Belgrade erupted in celebration after Vucic's announcement, with cars honking and students shouting "victory" and "he's done".
The snap elections came after almost two years of student-led demonstrations against perceived corruption and creeping authoritarianism triggered by the deaths of 16 people when a train station canopy collapsed in the city of Novi Sad in 2024.
"Dear Serbia, tonight the voice of the people is being heard," said Radomir Sajcic, a professor at Belgrade University speaking on behalf of the students at their headquarters. "Tonight we celebrate victory, tomorrow we build the future."
Turnout in the election was nearly 70%, the highest since the break-up of Yugoslavia in 1992. Lines snaked from polling stations in cities and towns across Serbia on Sunday, in a sign of widespread desire for change.

If Al Reuters is thrilled, it can’t be a good thing.
As long as it doesn’t interfere with Prvi Partizan!
historic win for student protest movement
Standard Reuters BS. Yeah “students” just like France. Bad news for Serbia, of that I have no doubt.
“If Al Reuters is thrilled, it can’t be a good thing.”
The Neocons needed him out because he supported talking to the Russians...so they got to work on him, similar to what they’re doing to Trump.
Here it is—without having to PAY Reuters!

All the best to the people of Serbia! We shall see what happens next!
Meanwhile, we in the USA will soon have our elections!
I am guessing this is a color revolution funded by the EU and our deep state? What is your take Honorary Serb?
All you have to do to avoid paying Reuters is use Brave browser.
Well there goes serbia. 😠. Turn out counts!
“Student” protests have led to the slaughter of hundreds of millions of people by their own governments.
Re Prvi:
I bought several boxes of Prvi 3030 ammo for my lever gun; Had issues with feeding. The rim on the cases was different thicknesses; We measured a couple of them, and none of them were identical
And yet I had several boxes of Prvi 7.92 mm Mauser ammo and they were perfect.
The 3030 batch must’ve been a Monday or a Friday batch 😁
they do a 30/06 round specifically for the M1, it works great in mine
"Students" were not the only voters wanting a future free from Putin.
Of course, the Pro-Putin wing of the Free Republic is deeply disappointed. They can always seek solace that Putin killed more Ukrainians in the homes today.

Vucic himself has been corrupt, and needed to be removed. But the supporters of the US Democrat Party, the Eurocrats and the EU are salivating over the results in Serbia and in Hungary. We’ll have to see what happens.
Too much slivovitz! Seriously, I’ve had good luck with their stuff generally.
Re good luck:
Yeah, I generally do as well… That’s why I was so surprised with the 3030 ammo.
My buddy had a veneer caliper in his tool case in the car while we were at the range, and we measured about 10 of the rims; none of them were the same thickness. Some thinner somewhere thicker. The thinner ones fed.
That’s literally the first time I’ve ever had a problem with their stuff. I use their British 303, the mauser 7.92, the Mosin Nagant 7.62 x 54… It all works wonderfully.
Today, the people of Serbia turned out in record numbers to shape their country’s future.
Congratulations to the Student List on its victory in the parliamentary elections.
We stand ready to support reforms on the rule of law, media freedom, the fight against corruption and strong democratic institutions, and to work together to advance Serbia’s future in the European Union.@eucopresident— Ursula von der Leyen (@vonderleyen) October 25, 2026
You are right...shouldn’t use just any old ammo in M1.
Thank you
