Colossal Biosciences’ Ben Lamm and Anduril’s Palmer Luckey had an idea to genetically engineer war dogs for the U.S. military, law enforcement, and other emergency response teams. On Thursday, that idea came out of stealth as Warhound, backed by $200 million in funding from investors including Sequoia, 8VC, Corner Ventures, and In-Q-Tel, a venture firm backed by the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies. The round values the company at $1.2 billion.
Warhound’s dogs, which do not exist yet, will take on tasks that are dangerous for humans or difficult for machines, such as bomb detection, searches, and other specialized operations. In its launch announcement, the company said that more than 80% of the U.S. military’s working dogs come from Europe, and less than half of them are fit for service.
That means the supply of working dogs is dwindling, and the U.S. increasingly relies on foreign nations for dogs that play an important role in the military and in law enforcement. Warhound aims to change that. The hope is that Colossal can use its technology to engineer dogs with “characteristics suited to demanding missions,” the company said in a press release. SNIP>>>>
Anduril, meanwhile, will provide software and hardware, such as protection vests and goggles, to assist the dogs and their handlers with situational awareness and coordination. Lamm said to imagine, for example, bulletproof vests with data sensors that send information back to the handlers so they can better understand what is happening.

Warhound’s dogs? Muslims hate dogs. Make it to where they can hunt down the machete yielding muslims.
They should be investing in AI-linked robotics. Bomb detection with chemical detectors is already a thing.
Why use organic?
Great! From torturing Beagle puppies to German Shepherds. Where’s Fauci when you need him?
The real advance will be War Pigs.
Excellent idea. I hate to see living creatures put in danger.
You might make an exception for my cat......bites me all the time. A holy terror.
if you’d have ever watched police shows like “K9 PD”, “Body Cam”, or “On Patrol Live” in which LEO dogs are shown in action, you’d understand that the capabilities of these actual dogs far exceeds robotics by several orders of magnitude ...
I understand and support the use of canines for use such as cadaver dogs, drug and explosives detectors and any other role that is non violent. I do NOT endorse any dogs used such as an attack dog unleashed to go after a suspect or used as an attack dog for law enforcement. I do not condone putting a dog in harms way of a possible armed subject. On leash tracking fine. Dogs for home protection is fine as long as they are not kept specifically as trained sentinels with little or no human contact. I have 3 dogs that stand guard duty nightly in front of my house, they do so willingly as they could come inside anytime they want. Dogs are special, not trained machines, they need love and affection like any member of the family.

Maybe they'll start up an assembly line.
So, the Terminator won’t look like Arnold Schwarzenegger but Rin-Tin-Tin…
Robotic dogs use much more power than their tracked or wheeled cousins.
These and the armed drones won’t be used on Muslims making war. They are the key to collecting our fire arms without needing a compliant military.
This reminds me of that Blake Shelton song Ol’ Red.
Anduril gear for war dogs refers to protective and high-tech combat equipment developed by
Anduril Industries for working animals fielded by the new defense startup Warhound. Includes
• Protective Vests and Armor: Specialized sensor-equipped vests and body armor designed
to shield the dogs during hazardous operations like bomb detection and tactical searches.
• Eye and Ear Protection: Goggles and acoustic/physical
protection gear built to withstand harsh battlefield environments.
• EagleEye Mixed-Reality Integration: Headgear and sensor systems
that connect the dogs to Anduril’s Eagle Eye headset and Lattice AI platform.
This allows human handlers to see a live feeds of what the
dog sees, fusing thermal, night-vision, and augmented reality data.
