Somaliland’s president has offered to put Donald Trump’s name on an airport.Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, commonly known by his nickname Irro, has floated renaming Berbera International Airport. The idea came after weeks of lobbying at Washington and New York to win what his government has sought for decades: formal recognition from the United States. Berbera, a port city on the Gulf of Aden, has a runway built by the Soviet Union in the 1970s that stretches more than 4,000 meters, among the longest in Africa.
So far, no agreement has been reached on the airport, on military access, or on recognition of the territory that declared its independence from Somalia in 1991.
Mr. Abdirahman arrived in the United States on September 5 and planned to stay the month. He appeared at the Hudson Institute on September 14 and met Senator Ted Cruz of Texas on Capitol Hill five days, later according to the Somaliland presidency. He then traveled to New York for the UN General Assembly, where he met Israel’s ambassador to the world body. The offer has grown more specific.
Mr. Abdirahman said in an interview last month that Somaliland could open its port and minerals to American investors and would not rule out a future base agreement, calling military access for the United States, Israel or others a matter for negotiation. He has also floated a Trump Tower, a skyscraper bearing the president’s real estate brand, at Hargeisa, the capital.Washington’s official position has not moved. In a June report to Congress, the State Department said Somaliland is still part of the Federal Republic of Somalia, while adding that the United States maintains a positive relationship with Hargeisa and is considering further engagement.

They also get all their people back, no charge.
Sorry, we absolutely adore her and aren't giving her back!
I hope without me having to read the article that the ONE THING they want back is Ilhan Omar....Tell me I’m right!
It wants to America to recognize it as its own nation (instead of part of Somalia). I not sure how that really works, can a President just declare that America recognizes a country?
Unfortunately, they don’t have her yet.
She’s still somewhere in America, remotely begging other jihadists for more money, from her
undisclosed location.
“Great Britain recognized the island state of Singapore. How do you recognize an island? Do you go, exc— Hey, wait. No, don’t tell me. Wait, wait. Didn’t we meet last year at the Feinman bar mitzvah? You look a lot like Hawaii. Didn’t we meet last year at the Peninsula Club?”

Send birth control.
this is Somalia newspaper, not Somaliland
Do not confuse Somaliland with Somalia! Somaliland is much more stable than Somalia.
Somaliland declared its independence from Somalia in 1991. It used to be a British protectorate whereas Somalia was Italian Somaliland. Ilhan Omar comes from Somalia.
I was hoping it was Ilhan Omar.
*: no racial inference intended….
Access to RE minerals and/or a US base could be attractive, if a mutually beneficial arrangement is possible. Assuming Somaliland won’t become a money pit for dumping US money.
I like it if possible as a thumb in the eye of Omar - or whatever is her real name. The warrant(s) served her were in the name of Ilhan [some other name], not Omar.
Somaliland has been independent and a relatively normal country for decades. They were only united with Somalia for about 10 minutes decades ago, but the globalists keep demanding that that they reunite with the psychopathic hellhole next door. They aren’t going to do it.
Lol!
The notion of there being two separate countries would be greatly advanced, if Somaliland would change its name, leaving the
“Somali” part out.
They have to take them ALL back. Boat lift them all there. Within 1 month.
I don’t care . We have no interests in Africa. Take them back.
I thought that somaliland was in Minnesota.
