Baltimore, MD — The Social Security Administration (SSA) today announced substantial progress in its ongoing effort to strengthen the accuracy and integrity of the Social Security Number (SSN) database. This work represents the most comprehensive SSN record clean‑up in the agency’s 91-year history.
“The Social Security Number database is our country’s books and records. The database’s accuracy is essential to maintaining integrity of government services for citizens. Accurate SSN records prevent fraud across federal programs and support the proper administration of benefits,” said Commissioner Frank J. Bisignano. “This is the first time SSA has undertaken an effort of this scale, and I am proud of the work we have done to strengthen the foundation of identity data relied upon throughout government and the economy.”
Since the beginning of the Trump Administration, SSA has corrected nearly 15 percent of all active SSNs across approximately 330 million U.S. citizens and nearly 390 million total records. SSA records are referenced by agencies across the federal government and in states to validate identities and prevent improper payments of taxpayer dollars. These improvements demonstrate a government‑wide commitment to safeguarding identity data, preventing fraud, and preserving proper program administration.
As part of this effort:
* SSA has added 17 million dates of death to records that previously lacked this information, using a combination of internal SSA systems and Department of State data.
* Through data received from the Department of Homeland Security’s Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) service, SSA has updated approximately 25 million records that previously had missing citizenship information.
* SSA is currently in the process of correcting an additional 8.5 million records with inaccurate citizenship status.
* The agency has implemented stronger internal controls to prevent inaccuracies due to manual data entry from occurring in the future.
These improvements reflect the first time SSA has undertaken a record‑integrity initiative of this magnitude and marks a significant step toward strengthening the SSN system for the American public.

So Barry the Fraud’s fraudulent SSN is still safe?

I have misplaced the new SS card but have the original card showing my actual SS number. Do I really need the new card which does not show my SS #? I have not had to show my SS card to anyone in decades.
This is great news. When a fake citizen votes, it nullifies votes of authentic citizens. Cleaning up SS database is a step in the right direction.
Call them up and ask for a new card. If you ever do need to show your card you don’t want to be handing out your real SS number.
To get a card replacement, I am required to go to a local SS OFFICE. Been there and it is long waits, and crowded room, most there to apply for food stamps, because there were too many younger people there. I am retired for 27 years, never going to fill out a job application. Like I said, never had to show my SS card to anyone in 27+ years.
Will this make a difference in time to correct voter rolls for the mid-terms?
Mine was lost 50 years ago..............
That’s all well and good, but I’m waiting for the new, required ID.me database to get hacked. It’s a private company the US government hired to provide its “one-step” login for all government agencies, including SSA. You have to provide all your information, including a government photo to sign up.
It will make the FBI hack look like child’s play.
I don’t think so, Tim...................
I’ve tried that several times. Every time it gets into a circular loop and I get frustrated and just leave the damn site.......................

Great deal should have happened years ago illegal’s count drops democrats wondering why.
412-....wait, I’m not typing it here!
You can do this on their website if you’ve set up an online account.
The ‘young people’ there are not after food stamps - they’re applying for 50 to 60 years of paid ‘disability’. The late twenties is the easiest time to collect for a lifetime. I was in a Social Security office years ago - waiting like you were and I asked what all these ‘gang banger’ type men were doing in a Social Security office. “Most of ‘em will get bigger checks than you’ll ever get - and for a hell of a lot longer”.
