Trump calls Ukraine's new attacks on Russian refineries 'a disgrace' and blames them for pushing up global energy prices - after Zelensky condemned US president's 'betrayal'

Speaking to broadcaster Newsmax, the president blamed Volodymyr Zelensky for the war, claiming he – not Vladimir Putin – had 'destroyed' Ukraine.

It came after Mr Zelensky resumed attacks on Russian oil refineries after hitting out at Mr Trump's 'betrayal' at a time of intense Russian attacks.

In an interview with the Financial Times, the Ukrainian leader said the cutting off of US intelligence sharing and the simultaneous weakening of the Starlink satellite internet service was 'dangerous' for civilians.

He added: 'The block [on attacking refineries] is out. We’re done.'

'Well, I think that's a disgrace,' Trump said yesterday, adding that Kyiv's recent strikes were driving up global energy prices.

Ukrainians wanted a deal with Russia but 'they’re not going to do it with him', he added. 'He says he wants to settle but he doesn’t. No, I’m not a big fan of Zelensky.'

On Thursday, a Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's Ryazan region caused a fire to break out at a major oil refinery, marking the first Ukrainian strike on an energy facility since Trump announced a surprise 'energy ceasefire' on Sunday.

Separately, a fuel terminal spectacularly reignited after blazing for five days in Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia.

Zelensky had paused energy strikes for three days to comply with US wishes, but said he would now resume them because Putin was still attacking Ukraine's essential infrastructure.

The Ukrainian attacks targeting Russian oil came after Zelensky's fury at US President Trump for signing a 'treacherous' deal to buy Russian diesel last Friday.

Both Zelensky and the US senators called that move a gift to Putin that would provide Russia with revenue to keep funding its war in Ukraine.

You know what IS a disgrace?

Invading a neighboring country whose borders you guaranteed, indiscriminately targeting civilians, forcibly deporting over 20,000 Ukrainian children.

We wouldn’t give “Z” missiles cuz he wouldn’t agree not to send them into Russia proper.

Zelensky wants to play big-boy politics by deliberately pushing up energy costs to affect election results in the US. The US is perfectly entitled to play the same “games” the other way.

Anyone who is stridently on the side of Zelensky and against America on this is invited to send their money or themselves to Ukraine to fight for a cause they can’t even get large numbers of their own citizens to fight for.

That they will decline to do either says volumes about them and their true convictions on this conflict.

Sure its Ukraine attacking Russian refineries that's the problem not the Iran War that closed the Strait of Hormuz.

Zelansky cant attack anything in Russia without the assistance of CIA targeting. Trump has greenlighted this in order to have an excuse for oil prices in the midterms. This is all a sham as is “por liddle me no one listens to me” Trump’s part in this. Being a putz gains no credibility.

You know what’s a disgrace....saying we don’t want any Russians here...even though half the population has Russian ties. And this was well before the Russian invasion. The new generation has been brainwashed.

Weird.

That’s the same excuse Hitler used for absorbing Czechoslovakia and invading Poland. Protecting those poor, persecuted Germans.

Trump calls Ukraine's new attacks on Russian refineries 'a disgrace'

Russia never agreed to an energy ceasefire and has been pounding Ukraine's energy infrastructure for the last three days, while Ukraine ceased attacks for three days. Trump is desperately trying to pass the blame for the Iran War fiasco, which has closed the Strait of Hormuz. Even if Russia delivers the 300,000 tons of diesel before Nov 3, its going to be too little, too late with estimates showing that it changes the diesel price by just pennies.

"If we get diesel from Russia, basically it means that their existing customers are not going to get it and they'll have to go somewhere else, and that will keep the price basically where it is now," Michael Lynch, distinguished fellow at Energy Policy Research Foundation

A morally repulsive attempt to blame Ukraine for high energy prices caused mainly by Trump's so-far failed war on Iran.

In particular, the failure to warn Ukraine of missile launches is of limited military utility because of the lack of interceptors: it's needed to give warning to civilians to take shelter. The military grade Starlink is also in part paid for by other countries: Poland has spent Zl500 (about USD110 million) paying for Ukraine's Starlink.

Trump's actions are considerable consternation in Poland. There is no way Poland will tolerate Russian troops along more of its border, so if Trump tries to force a Ukrainian capitulation, they will probably find it necessary to intervene more aggressively, calculating conflict now is a better risk than the certainty of Russian despotism in the future.

So the fruits of Trump's idiotic foreign policy is a lurch towards a 1914 situation in Europe.
