A United States Air Force major who publicly demanded the impeachment of President Donald Trump while wearing his military uniform has reportedly spent nearly two months in solitary confinement as he awaits court-martial proceedings.
Major Jason Watson, 40, a longtime Air Force officer and graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, has been held in pretrial confinement since August 18 after repeatedly calling for the removal of President Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Watson was arrested on July 1 after participating in an impeachment demonstration outside the U.S. Capitol.
The event was associated with a campaign supported by Democrat Rep. Al Green of Texas, a longtime advocate of impeaching President Trump.
Watson appeared in his military uniform, delivered a speech attacking the Trump administration, and subsequently walked onto the Capitol steps holding a sign reading:
“Impeach. Convict. Remove.”
Capitol Police arrested Watson after he refused orders to stop demonstrating in a restricted area.
According to Capitol Police, the arrest was for crowding, obstructing, and incommoding, not simply for expressing opposition to Trump.
Following his arrest, the Air Force initiated an investigation into the officer’s conduct.
On August 25, The Gateway Pundit’s Cullen Linebarger reported that Watson had been charged with 10 alleged violations under three articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
The charges included three specifications under Article 88, which prohibits commissioned officers from using contemptuous words against certain government officials, including the president.
Watson also faced five specifications under Article 92 for alleged disobedience of orders and two under Article 133 for alleged conduct unbecoming an officer.
The allegations included his political statements, appearance at the Capitol in uniform, unauthorized travel, and refusal to comply with certain military uniform requirements.

If you are going to ruin your career, this is the way to ruin your career. Dumb a$$
Serious question: does the UCMJ allow for first amendment protections? My understanding is that once you become a soldier, you are held to a different standard. Am I mistaken?
Life is different when you are not a civilian.
He probably wint, but the maximum number of years he could get for all his crimes is upwards of 20 years.
Under Slime-Biden, the Academy squadrons had political officers wearing special markings. Their job was to report improper speech.
Not kidding. The Academy (and the others as well) had sunk that far.
Cadets were afraid to speak about politics in public lest they generate ‘interest’ by the corrupt Academy leadership.
GOOD.
Remember the Commie cadet?
Their going to nail him on conduct unbecoming.
Their going to nail him on conduct unbecoming.
Their going to nail him on conduct unbecoming.
No you are not mistaken.
In the DoD I worked around US Navy personnel for 30 years and I can tell you they are very careful about what they say about politics.
Which was very little if anything at all.
Too much for them to lose, which is something this moron should have known better than to do.
And a freakin’ officer....unbelievable. SMH
Their going to nail him on conduct unbecoming.
You can say that again.
Oh wait! You already did.

Once you hit the “post” button probably best to give it a minute. 👍

I’ll say!
Article 88 bars the use of “contemptuous words” against the president.
Article 13 of the UCMJ prohibits punishment while awaiting trial that is “any more rigorous than the circumstances require.” The claim is he is being held in solitary confinement, lights on 24 hours a day. The question becomes is that truly necessary for contemptuous words or is that punishing him for those words only. Why would solitary confinement be required in this case.
LBJ and McNamara weren’t too popular when I was in Vietnam. I might have muttered an epithet or three.
Nobody seemed to mind, though.
He'll likely run for congress in a liberal district and get elected. He'll then get paid handsomely and receive plenty of benefits for doing nothing. It beats the hell out of working.
Due to the nature of military service, the UCMJ criminalizes some behaviors (and speech) that would be purely civil or employment matters in the non-military sphere. If you are a check-out boy at a local supermarket and decide to not show up for work, the employer can decide to fire you, but they won't send the police to your house to arrest you. If you're a soldier and don't show up for work, that's AWOL (or under the circumstances desertion) and you have violated a punitive article under the UCMJ. Obviously when it comes to speech, a check out boy at the grocery store can bad mouth his supervisor. There will be consequences for doing so, but no criminal consequences. A private who mouths off to his sergeant or lieutenant, on the other hand, can be brought to account under the UCMJ. There area number of punitive articles which can limit/restrict what a service member can say:
Article 88 is Contempt Towards Officials and applies only to commissioned officers for badmouthing the POTUS, VPOTUS, SecWar, and other officials. Articles 89 and 90 are disrespect/insubordination to a superior officer and 91 is insubordination to a warrant officer or NCO. Officers are also subject to Article 133 which is conduct unbecoming and Article 134 is known as the "catch all," which is conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline, or which brings discredit upon the military.
Each service also has their own set of regulations which further define an outline restrictions on speech and political activities/activism, and soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, etc. who violate their own services specific general orders and regulations would also be subject to Article 92.
