Hurricane Isaias, the first of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, made landfall along the northern Gulf Coast early Saturday as a Category 2 hurricane.
Marking the latest start to an Atlantic hurricane season since satellite tracking began in 1966, Isaias formed late on October 7, 2026, following months of unusual storm inactivity.
With maximum sustained winds near 110 mph, the storm threatens the Florida Panhandle and Alabama with life-threatening storm surges of 6-10 feet and isolated rainfall totals reaching 15 inches.
North Carolina officials have placed urban search and rescue teams on a state mission order in key locations to ensure readiness for potential flash flooding and severe weather through the weekend.

What’s scary is it should happen on an election day. The gulf coast is ours.
The Storm that’s headed for California lets see who makes the bigger mess the storm or the democrats
What DEI idiot put this foreign name on the storm list?
Prayers up for Freeper Red Badger. This is his area. 🙏🙏🙏
They should have named it “Hurricane Ditka” in his honor.
Agree. Prayers for Red Badger, and anyone else in the path.
I have long been an avid proponent of doing away with the stupid ass names and just numbering the dam things.
Building intelligence into the numbering could tell exactly what when where etc.
How longs it gonna be until hurricane “La’quasha”?
Can’t unfortunatley. But most didn’t know there were rules on naming hurricanes There are six alphabetical lists of names for Atlantic hurricanes, maintained by the World Meteorological Organization, and they are rotated through every six years.
Key Rules for Naming Hurricanes
• Human First Names: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) uses pre-determined lists of alternating male and female first names (such as Alberto, Beryl, or Katrina).
• Six-Year Rotation: There are six rotating lists used in sequence, meaning a specific name list is repeated every six years.
• Alphabetical Order: Storms are named in alphabetical order starting with the letter “A” each season (skipping Q, U, X, Y, and Z in the Atlantic).
• Supplemental List: If a season runs out of the 21 primary names, meteorologists use a pre-approved backup list rather than the Greek alphabet.
• Retired Names: If a storm is exceptionally deadly or destructive, its first name is permanently retired by the WMO and replaced with a new name starting with the same letter. Someone has to be in charge of that and have rules. They just can’t call them all Fred.

So Irma was retired and this name got in ?
Thank you 👍👌🙏🙏🙏
I think it was after Ike was retired.
I came through great. Never lost power and have no damage. my cousin and 1 sister have no power, but no damage. Two people I know lost power and have trees down.
Lots of power outages close to me.
That’s terrific news!
But all the scripts would have to written again
The Atlanta TV stations were busy hyping the fear porn yesterday and last evening as they always do. My YouTube guy Greg Majestic called it right on the money for our area at 9:00PM last night.
He said it was already morphing into a tropical depression and it was not going to be a big deal and it would be over by lunchtime today. We got light rain and it was breezy. That’s about it. My sister in Gainesville said about the same.
Our power went off for several hours but is back on now so Mr. GG2 shut down the generator and its all back to semi normal.
Why wasn’t ICE there to stop the illegal entry?
Shouldn't it be pronounced like the biblical name "Isaiah" but with an "s" at the end? When I hear it said on newscasts it is painful to the ears.
Hallelujah!
I you live within 30 miles of the coast anywhere from Wilmington to South Padre Island, you can count on losing everything you own to a hurricane at least once in your lifetime.
Realtors operating in that 2200-mile-long band should be required to have that little factoid printed at the top of their sales contracts.
