Barack Obama is facing a fresh humiliation at his 'eyesore' presidential center with workers slamming the project's bosses and moving to unionize just months after it opened.
In a letter to colleagues this week, staff at the Chicago library said they were organizing a union due to the institute's 'increasing workloads' and benefit rollbacks.
Workers have grown frustrated with leadership at Obama's foundation after their concerns were met with 'vague responses,' according to the letter, first shared by the Chicago Sun-Times.
Issues with workloads and benefits have led to a 'high turnover rate' among employees, with many more 'continuing to leave (and) taking with them their institutional knowledge and expertise,' the letter claimed.
Workers say they were recently told that their healthcare costs would increase, promotions were suspended, and paid time off was reduced, despite also learning they would get no pay increases this winter.
Luke Gilday, an Obama Foundation employee and member of the union organizing committee, told the Sun-Times that workers decided to unionize because they 'don't even have a seat at the table.'
'What we’re hoping for, and really the reason why we’re forming our union, is just because we believe we should have a say in the decisions that are being made that impact all of our lives,' Gilday said.

Isn’t Hope and Change enough?
His first attempt (that I can think of) of employing people in the private sector, and it’s a disaster!
Right!
They should rename it the Obama Grifters Center.
Architectural obamanation.....
I expect Obama will come out and say that he supports unionization of his employees, and has always supported unionization.
The city pays for employees and maintenance.
I hope they pick a French union to represent them... and then burn that hideous flak tower down in the inevitable riot.
Spot on!
He couldn’t run a lemonade stand.
IIRC, ValJar is the chief exec...at $350K annually....no surprise then

I have friends that are going to see this monstrosity next week. Paid for very expensive tickets in advance and everything.
I hope they have to cross a picket line, LOL!
Looks like someone dropped a used milk carton on the ground.
Looks like an Orc frontier outpost. I swear it must have a Nazgûl landing pad on the roof.
The Center has thousands of U of C students to draw on. AT least in the ‘80s, the school was awful with providing work opportunities for students who needed to make money to pay for things.
When I was accepted and got to campus in 1982, I took out my “award” package. It included a small Pell Grant (which the feds said I didn’t qualify for, so I never got. U of C did the calculation wrong. 9% GSL/3% NDSL loans, and Work-Study. OK, school, what’s my work study? “Oh you have to get that yourself!” I was a 19 year old just off my first plane ride getting ready for my first quarter in college, and I was saddled with having to find my own job. It took a year to find one that actually paid enough money and gave enough hours to pay that portion. Frankly, it was a distraction from being a student.
If the University still has that attitude towards providing students with opportunities to pay the bills, there will be an endless supply of able students to keep the lights on, EVEN if underpaid.
