Pakistan will use “whatever means are available” to defend Saudi Arabia against Iran-backed Houthi rebels, the country’s defense minister said Tuesday, offering one of Islamabad’s clearest indications yet that it could become directly involved in the widening regional conflict.
Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif declined to say whether Pakistani forces had already participated in airstrikes. He said, however, that Pakistan’s military capabilities would be available to Saudi Arabia under a new mutual defense pact with Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
“I’m not going into detail, but obviously when I say that we are bound by this arrangement to defend Saudi Arabia, that means whatever means are available at our disposal, they’ll be available to Saudi Arabia also. I think that’s a categoric statement,” Asif told reporters during a visit to Rome when asked whether Pakistan had been involved in airstrikes against Iranian operators in Yemen.
His response did not explicitly confirm Pakistani participation in any strikes. He also did not say whether Saudi Arabia, which has been repeatedly attacked by the Houthis in recent weeks, had asked for assistance.
Asif described the Houthis as aggressors and said Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia was unambiguous.
“Any enemy of Saudi Arabia is enemy of Pakistan. That should be very clear,” he said.

Well that’s mighty white of them
Do you really believe them?
“Do you really believe them?”
Nope. I don’t believe any muzzies.
“Whatever means” = sabers and AK-47s, carried by boots on the ground.
Pakistan is afraid if they don’t do anything, the Saudis will send home all the Paki “guest workers”.
Not really but I guess saying it is better than nothing
Cool. how about using one of your nukes on the rebel-held capital, Sanaa? That’d be nice. Everything else has been tried to take the wind out of their sails, and nothing else seems to work.
This should becinteresting.
Now I get it. What else could it be? Just what can they do being so far away? Send troops to die that don’t believe in their bosses?
Yes, Cronos actually getting some info being filtered out here, even on Citizen FreePress, which mistakes Trump’s America First for neoconservatism, like they do around here. BTW, ground troops? Pak 260 million vs. Iran 90 million. Think Hessians , hopefully not necessary, but they mightsell a few regiments
Nice angle. IYKYK
Quite.
And it would be nice if the nuke veers a bit to the north and takes out Mecca
Can you name any wars Muzzies have won since WW-II?
Saudi would be better off asking Israel to help.
“Do you really believe them?”
I believe Pakistan is just as opposed to Iran as the regional hegemon as the Saudi’s.
And militarily they are much more powerful than Iran.
So, I’m thinking the Iranians believe them.
