Socialist Spain has offered Americans a glimpse of what socialist economics can bring, and perhaps a preview of New York City’s future, or that of the broader United States, should progressives and the Democratic Socialists of America gain more ground.
On Tuesday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced that, in keeping with his government’s belief that housing is a “human right,” it had introduced legislation to bar evictions, freeze rents, and force landlords to continue leasing properties to tenants. The bill would also expand the country’s affordable-housing stock.

The AOC acolytes 😵💫 😵💫 🐑 certainly believe so!
I loved Spain but 1/2 of the country does nothing other than party until 4am
The “science” on socialism is already clear. We’ve had dozens of experiments, all with the same result. We don’t need to run anymore experiments.
We need to eliminate the “scientists” who do
Well, as previously noted, visiting east Berlin in 1962 as a fifteen year old kid showed me all I needed to see/know. Uh, no thankee!
i foresee numerous “The Fountainhead” type incidents of one sort or another, even if it’s a passive-aggressive abandonment of property and landlords fleeing Spain ...
“Francisco Franco, you’re needed in ER. Francisco Franco.”

Actually there are many, many examples of the failure of socialism.
What a great idea. No one will pay their rent, the landlords will go broke and default on their property taxes. Then the government will take possession of the property.
The bill would also expand the country’s affordable-housing stock.
The affordable property will be owned by the government, the above process will certainly expand the government's supply of rental property.
You can bet that the government will not be constrained by the above law barring evictions, freeze rents, and force landlords (the government) to continue leasing properties to tenants.
Did the Spanish learn NOTHING from the events that happened in Guernica in 1937?
Franco kept the Spanish Socialists pretty much buttoned down for 36 years. Once he was gone, though, all the rot and corruption came back full force.
They ran out of other peoples money already?..............

It’s clear Pedro has not read up on the “definition of insanity.” These socialists are all the same.
Well, maybe aoc* can go ‘splain it to pedro. SMDH!

If you’re not a liberal at 20, you don’t have a heart.
If you’re not a conservative at 40, you don’t have a brain.
Purportedly said by Winston Churchill.
Unfortunately, the failure of Spanish socialism won’t make a bit of difference.
Folks who think socialism is bad will continue to think socialism is bad.
Folks who think socialism is good will just say, “Next time it will be different.”
🙁
As though the world needed yet another case study in socialist failure!
Yes, let’s throw another example on the pile.
Doesn’t matter when people refuse to learn from history.
Socialism: when the Berlin Wall fell
a) How many West Germans ran east to enjoy the fruits of socialism?
b) How many East Germans ran west to enjoy the fruits of the free market?
a. None
b. During the stampede, the true number was lost.
