President Donald Trump says that he has approved new fuel economy standards that should cut the costs of the vehicle market.
“BIG DAY FOR AMERICAN AUTO WORKERS AND CAR BUYERS! I have just approved new Fuel Economy Standards that TERMINATE Sleepy Joe Biden and Pete Boot-EDGE-EDGE's ridiculous EV Mandate," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "The Dumocrats cost our Great Auto Manufacturers $Billions, forced Americans into cars they never wanted, and wasted Billions on Chargers that were never built.”
The new standards terminate the EPA’s electric vehicle mandate.
"These new Standards will take the waste out of building cars in America. That means LOWER PRICES, saving families thousands on a new, beautiful, and safe car," Trump wrote. “Far better than the Environmental Monsters that we were building heretofore. Every Manufacturer, from General Motors to Ford to Stellantis, has called me wanting to build here, and now they can!”
The final rule isn’t available yet. Under former President Joe Biden, the EPA had ordered about 67 percent of new light-duty and medium-duty vehicle sales to be electric by 2032.
Trump’s administration destroyed the EV subsidy and removed the mandate.
Trump said that tariffs and other policy decisions have driven auto manufacturers back to the U.S.
Big Three automaker Stellantis, which owns Jeep, Chrysler, and Ram, has said it will invest $13 billion in Midwest auto factories in Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.
“Under my Administration, over 100 $Billion is being invested in American Autos, and that's just the beginning,” Trump wrote. “The Plants are coming back, and Jobs are returning, to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, South Carolina, and all over our Country. Thank you to our Great Secretaries of Transportation and Commerce, Sean Duffy and Howard Lutnick. AMERICA IS BACK. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
The average price of a new car sold in July was around $50,000, according to Kelley Blue Book.

DJT has realized that there is no way in he# that the power grid can accommodate BOTH a myriad of EV chargers AND “Data Centers”.
The new extra large data centers are not feeding off of grids in populated areas. I just had an assignment where I worked on a huge one in a very remote part of Texas populated with windmills, but not many people (natural gas supplies the difference when the turbines are not turning). Eventually we will likely see on site mini-nukes.
The grid couldn’t handle just the EVs the Left was trying to mandate.
There is no way, that my wife and I, retired persons, could possibly afford a new $50,000 vehicle. We’ll hang on to our 20 year old cars.

Right-to-repair laws are far and few between and Big Auto (BA) is fighting them everywhere they can. BA will happily build cheaper vehicles if they are guaranteed that those vehicles *must* be repaired at a dealership, not at home or other independent repair shop.
BA is already moving in that direction. Many newer vehicles no longer have oil/transmission dipsticks and refill tubes under the hood so the owner cannot check the levels and service them if needed. BA is also consolidating electrical components into ‘dealer only service’ boxes so owners cannot diagnose a problem. BA is also supporting laws that require junk yards to destroy older vehicles thereby drying up a source of parts for the owners of older, more reliable cars.
Finally poor mechanical design in recent years has resulted in millions of recalls to fix problems that did not exist 10 years ago. BA is working to force us into buying their newer junk by eliminating the sources of older, more reliable vehicles. I fear the days of 100,000 trouble-free miles is soon coming to pass - by design.
BA greed is not the only player here. Much of BA’s inability to build reliable vehicles is driven by democrat’s Green New Steal legislation. So while PDJT can cancel GND laws, it will take years for BA to respond with better built transportation - even if they want to - which I doubt.
The deal with data centers is that they ARE connected to the Grid, all of them. Their owners (vast majority) PROMISE to build out their own generators, but, as they’re learning, it is MUCH EASIER to build data centers than generator stations, and so we’ll have to wait for the generation capability...maybe for a long time too.
