Viewer video allegedly shows ICE agents entering a Meriden courthouse on Wednesday to make an arrest.
A Connecticut law passed in November 2025 says ICE agents can no longer arrest people in public areas of state courthouses without a warrant or signed order.
The video also shows the agents wearing face coverings, which violates state law, and judicial marshals assisting them as they ordered advocates and community members out of the courthouse.
It later captured a man in handcuffs being escorted away from the area.

“It is just baffling. We are not going to stand for it. We are going to continue to expose and the reason why the coaliation was here today,” said Miguel Castro, Former Elected Council, City of Meriden. He shot the video obtained by Channel 3.
He says that one of the advocates, an 80-year-old woman, was pepper sprayed during the commotion.
“Judicial marshalls protecting the ice agents that were inside the courthouse. Preventing us from going to the courthouse such we were, pushed one of our advocates, elderly hit her head om the concrete and taken to the hospital,” he continued.
Castro added that the man detained had been in court for a DMV-related case and was granted a program through the court. He says advocates were unable to learn his name before he was taken away.

ICE is federal and trumps those laws.

Yep. A brief lesson on supremacy clause. This got settled in the 1860s. Democrats can't keep slaves. One hundred years later, we passed laws that said you can't make negroes drink from a dirty fountain. Democrats kicked and screamed.

As far as I am concerned, they were not pepper sprayed enough, or shoved to the ground hard enough.
And then, when down on the ground, having the whistles inserted deeply enough where the sun never shines.

If they feel that the 80 year old “advocate” was too old to be pepper sprayed, then she was too old to interfere with ICE agents.

I was born in Meriden, and owned a house there for three years. The only thriving institution in its downtown is the Courthouse. You have to go east on Main Street or South on Broad Street or to any of the edges (e.g. near Hubbard Park) to be in a decent area.
That video is laughable at so many levels. The reporter and the guy interviewed kept referring to Connecticut law as if IT is the Law of the Land.

Excellent point. You have these blue states creating sanctuary city type laws, where they’ll blatantly ignore federal law, then, lose their mind when the feds ignore their own laws under the supremacy clause.
