Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,

Grab your weapons, citizens!
Form your battalions!
Let us march! Let us march!
May impure blood
Water our fields!
Ours is survival against an overwhelming attack. France's is "let's arm ourselves and kill our enemies".
Howdy, Kathy.
Have a nice, restful weekend, maybe curled up in the recliner with a good book?
Crazy start to today. THICK fog this morning. Couldn’t see anything on the cam for a while. Pretty for a few hours and now it looks like clouds are moving back in.
Toasty here but it’s been worse.
Son's over for dinner so we'll see ya later!
~ The Star Spangled Banner

The FR Canteen is Free Republic's longest running daily thread
specifically designed to provide entertainment and moral support for the military.
The doors have been open since Oct 7 2001,
the day of the start of the war in Afghanistan.
We are indebted to you for your sacrifices for our Freedom.

Good evening, radu...hope your day was not too hot.
The tune is The Anacreontic Song (first line: “To Anacreon in Heaven”). Anacreon was a Greek poet from the 5th century BC known for writing dirty lyrics.
The third stanza of “God Save the King”:
O Lord our God arise
Scatter his enemies
And make them fall
Confound their politics
Frustrate their knavish tricks
On thee our hopes we fix
God save us all
Good evening, KarlInOhio....you make a very good point. Thanks...
