ADEN/DUBAI, Sept 12 - Saudi Arabia has shut down its East-West pipeline after the vital oil conduit came under aerial attack in the widening Middle East war. The world’s largest crude oil exporter temporarily closed the pipeline after a drone attack that both Baghdad and Riyadh said had originated in Iraq, where Iranian-backed militias operate. Iraq dismissed a military commander on Saturday in response to the attack. The 1,200-kilometre (745-mile) pipeline running across the Arabian Peninsula had helped Saudi Arabia to bypass a shipping logjam in the Strait of Hormuz, where tanker traffic has slowed to a trickle due to the war between the U.S. and Iran.

One scenario: The House of Saud falls. 2000 members of the royal family run for their lives and the radical muslims go looking for them. No where in the world they can hide. Is Trump preparing the world for the day when the world doesn’t need mid east oil? We all know that if there was an election there Bin Laden would have won it.

I wonder how much it might have cost to run a cheesy horizontal missile-shield made from ordinary chain-link fence strung up on ordinary pipe along/on top of this pipeline?
Let’s see, 5 MM barrels a day is $400 million. I have no idea how long it might take to rehab the pipeline. One funny thing about pipelines, you can’t stop at 95% done. Surely it will take a solid month to get it fixed, and it could take 6 months. That’s $12 billion a month.
I guess nobody could have figured out the obvious target potential of the open pipeline.

The 9/11 Saudis have immense wealth and a huge arsenal of the latest Western military materials. Yet they don’t have the courage or capability to control adjacent Yemen which has been attacking them for the last fifteen years. Will repeat what many have said. Instead of attacking Iraq, we should have deposed the Saudi regime and publicized the American politicians and government officials who got rich with their not so subtle bribes.
