“In some States ... compliance with USPS’ rule would be impossible ahead of the midterms, meaning that millions of voters would be unable to vote by mail and some would not be able to vote at all,” the states argued. “In the remaining States, there would be chaos — and a significant risk that millions more voters would be denied the ability to vote.”
The Democrat-led coalition — which includes California, 23 other states and the District of Columbia — also cited objections from lower-ranking state and elections officials in conservative states that have not objected to the Postal Service’s position, including the lieutenant governor and other officials in Utah saying implementation of the new rules would “be an unmitigated disaster.”
Similar warnings have emanated from Florida, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin.
“Whatever else may be said of USPS’ new rule, it would wreak havoc on States and their voters if it takes effect at this late point,” the Democrat-led states wrote, pointing out that some States, including North Carolina and Wisconsin, have already begun to mail out ballots.

The lower court judge, U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani, has been slow walking this case through the issuance of injunctions, in order to create the chaos that the Democrats are now complaining about.

Yeah, I doubt even Florida could pull off compliance with the new USPS/PDJT rules in the 11 business days they have left before Florida’s ballots must be in the mail...the design/printing of millions of new ballot envelopes probably one of the biggest hurdles.

They didn’t seem to be especially concerned about disenfranchised voters when their candidate won.

No. It was some states’ refusal to comply that is being used as the excuse.
The dem boat is sinking. There is a hole in the hull and the water level is slowly rising. They chose to not deal with the rising water by bailing. Now the hole is plugged and they complain that there is too much water.
Had they started bailing earlier - preparing to comply- their boat would survive. But, no. They caused the problem and are now complaining about the problem.
North Carolina prepared for the inevitable -it started bailing- and now says it will have no issue with getting the ballots out using the USPS.
I hope SCOTUS stays in its lane and doesn’t appease the crying toddlers again.

Maybe, but Florida & Texas not close to being ready. And I think NC is only “partially compliant”....no new USPS required barcode on NC ballot envelopes, etc. and the NC attorney general is party to the lawsuit to block the new rules.

“24.3.1 Outbound Federal Ballot Mail Envelope Standards
Outbound Federal Ballot Mail must be mailed in an envelope that:
a. Includes the official Election Mail logo;
b. Is automation compatible; and
c. Bears the voter’s unique IMb, as created by the Authorized Ballot Mailer,
with the Delivery Point ZIP Code embedded and a Federal Ballot Mail Service
Type Identifier (STID).
Outbound Federal Ballot Mail envelopes must be submitted to the Postal Service for
mailpiece design review and feedback.
24.3.2 Return Federal Ballot Mail Envelope Standards
Return Federal Ballot Mail must be mailed in an envelope that:
a. Includes the official Election Mail logo;
b. Is automation compatible; and
c. Bears the voter’s unique IMb, as created by the Authorized Ballot Mailer,
with the Delivery Point ZIP Code embedded and a Federal Ballot Mail STID.
