About the first line of the couplet, however, I must register a certain skepticism. Is experience “the great teacher” in life? An honest answer, I believe, should begin with the hoary qualification “that depends.”

Which leads me to the political principle a friend summed up in a pithy observation: “To be a liberal is to be unable to learn from the past.” Sometimes experience is a great teacher. Sometimes it is hardly more than a distraction. My friend’s point is that Democrats seem to derive no sustenance from their experience. The failure of their policies does not lead them to adjust their expectations or their actions. It causes them to double down on their mistakes.
The history of America’s welfare apparatus since the time of FDR and, especially, since the time of LBJ and the so-called Great Society programs, is a case in point.

Democrats are not naive. They believe anyone who disagrees with their way is worthy of death, the believe it has to be their way and anyone who opposes them needs to be controlled and punished.
It doesn’t matter how hard they believe they are right, that doesn’t make the naive, they believe they are so right that any action is justified.

The purpose Welfare and disasters like the great society is to create a permanent dependency class that will vote for the Democrats in perpetuity and it has been very successful.

Your average liberal on the street isn’t consciously on board for that conspiracy, because as the article aludes to, they are cynical and naive, depending on what defense mechanism serves them best.
They actually think it’s the government’s job to provide charity to the ‘downtrodden’. Differentiating between welfare and a safety net is distinction that conservatives can make, and be compassionate to people’s misfortunes, while leftists cannot. They think everyone deserves a piece of of the government pie, and don’t care that everyone has to pay for that pie.
To be a Democrat is to be delusional. Sadly when a civilization becomes so prosperous that a significant percentage of the population no longer needs to work in order to survive, people do become delusional.The inherent defect of democracy throughout the ages is that such people often come to power.
That number is far too low. Our nation was born with violence against the King's minions and it was fully justified. To say otherwise is to deny the rights of man.
The Democratic Party is now the party of socialism and radical dismantling of our Constitutional Republic. I fear if they gain a foothold in the next election the Bill of Rights and Electoral College will be the first casualties of their new socialist state. As with all socialist states the people will be reduced to peons while the elites running the country will live in luxury. It is inevitable that the country will be reduced to a one party police state.

Right. Calling them naive is a compliment, considering what they truly are. It’s giving them the benefit of the doubt re: them possibly not being evil.... when we all know, by now, that they are indeed evil... to the commie core.

Nope, to be a liberal is to be able to learn from the past to change it. Time heals all memory. And pieces of the past can be messed with to create a false impression of the total.

Liberals are never the ones that suffer so they have no interest in getting it right.
They remain employed even if their plan fails.
Suffering is for other people.
And they are sure their plan would work if it was just done the right way with more government funding and slave labor.
American Conservatives have a more serious second problem.
Boomers are mostly white, and, by a small majority, vote Republican.
Age 18-29 Voters are 50% non-white, and, a rock solid majority vote Democrat.
Dems, commies, the left in general are nefarious.
