There was a hate crime in Tucson, Arizona, on Monday. Two gay men at a bar were gunned down; the suspect had a list of other gay establishments around the city, so this has become a hate crime investigation. Two things will ensure this story is suffocated with a pillow.
The first is the most obvious: there are a lot of national stories dropping, including the new Venezuela oil deal, Canada freaking out over Lake Ontario’s name change, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Lindsay Clancy, and the upcoming GOP midterm convention in Dallas, Texas.
The second reason is the real reason why this story will be lost: the suspect was black, and as of now, there’s no evidence that he was a MAGA supporter. You know the game. If this were a white conservative Republican, many minutes would be devoted to this, part of the ongoing white supremacist and anti-LGBT terrorism that the Trump administration supposedly executes daily. The suspected shooter is also dead, having been taken into custody with gunshot wounds and later dying at the local hospital. We do not know if the wounds were self-inflicted (via NYT):
Two men were killed outside a gay bar in Tucson, Ariz., early Monday morning in a shooting that the police are investigating as a possible hate crime.
A gunman confronted and then shot the two victims in the parking lot of Venture-N, a bar in midtown Tucson, the police said. The authorities identified the two people killed as Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, and Cameron Davis Capara, 33, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, identified as Ousman Ceesay, 44, also had gunshot wounds when the police arrived at the bar around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, the authorities said, adding that he died shortly after arriving at a nearby hospital. It was not immediately clear if his wounds were self-inflicted.
Mr. Ceesay was in possession of a note that listed several L.G.B.T.Q.-associated businesses that he may have been targeting, the police said. After the shooting, they increased patrols around L.G.B.T.Q. venues across the city, they said.
He had an address in Oklahoma City, according to public records, and had no criminal history beyond a speeding ticket in 2012. In 2018, he and his then-wife filed for bankruptcy, court records show. Attempts to reach her were unsuccessful. The petition stated that Mr. Ceesay was briefly employed as an Uber and Lyft driver.
Mayor Regina Romero of Tucson called Monday’s shooting a “direct and devastating attack on our L.G.B.T.Q. community” in a video statement she posted on social media. “This tragedy is another painful reminder that homophobia is still rampant in our country,” she added.
Monica Prieto, chief of the Tucson Police Department, said in a statement that “bias-based crimes are especially heinous and have no place in our community.”
It was later confirmed on Wednesday that the shooting was officially classified as a hate crime.
But the suspect was not white, so this gets buried six feet under.
I thought the reason most the country will not hear much about these murders was going to hypothetically be
‘because the murderer himself was also gay’.
Him being black would have been the next most likely reason.
Gambia is 96% muslim.
Why do reporters think that admitting incompetence absolves them from doing the job of reporting?
That the suspect was probably a transvestite muslim is another reason to quash.
Hilarious
Regina Romero babbles wokespeak about homosexuals in “our” country (she was born and raised about 3 feet inside the line in San Luis); being homosexual is one of the worst things you can be in Mexico.
And the new Mexican police chief (!) says it has no place in “our comoonity”...uh huh. Tell it to the Vatos Locos on South 6th ave.
Moral of story, do not venture in to gaybar or you may check out unexpectedly.
We’ll see. Easy enough to see if it gets traction.
But I suspect he’s right.
The MSM, social media, and Hollywood are EXTREMELY bias.
One guy bombs an abortion clinic and that will be mentioned 29 YEARS later like it was yesterday.
Cut a woman’s head off (yelling Allah Akbar) at work and there won’t be 4 documentaries, one TV series (Law and Order) and 2 movies which talk about this: https://npr.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/62728c3/2147483647/strip/true/crop/213x299+0+0/resize/1760x2470!/format/webp/quality/90/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fnpr-brightspot.s3.amazonaws.com%2Flegacy%2Fsites%2Fkgou%2Ffiles%2F201410%2FColleenHufford.jpg
It’ll just be a story that gets forgotten, a sanitized Wiki entry no one reads: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaughan_Foods_beheading_incident
If the perp is dead then there’s nothing else to report on. Of course the fact that it was a minority killing members of a protected group accelerates the desire to move on to other news.
CC
Ousman Ceesay , one of those folks that no image is available .
Most likely a queer love triangle gone bad. A real hater would have gone into the bar and shot more of them.
“ murderer himself was also gay”
That was my expectation, too. It’s still a possibility: “In 2018, he and his then-wife…”
I know two guys who were family men, raised kids, divorced, and went homo. Maybe this guy has the same inclinations and blames that for the failures of his marriage.
Not surprising at all.
Don’t forget Ndiaga Diagne.
Who ?
The African immigrant who shot up a bar in Austin, Texas in March 2026, killing 3 and wounding 15.
Regulator, Really Enjoyed your bio. American history is fascinating !!
Your BIO is a great ‘story of America’
Greatly appreciate it. More families should have such happy memories. Thank you !!
(Mayor Regina Romero of Tucson called Monday’s shooting a
“direct and devastating attack on our L.G.B.T.Q. community”)
Perplexing story. We’ll see how it turns out.
That being said, no surprise that she’s a Democrat.
LGBTQ+ is their thing.
We do not advocate violence be used of course.
(Most likely a queer love triangle gone bad)
It will be interesting to find out if that’s indeed correct.
Definitely sounds like he only targeted those two.
could be both… love triangle, jealous rage, looking for lub in all the wrong places…
Where was he identified as Gambian? It wasn’t in the Townhall article.
