Democrat Rep. James Clyburn (SC-06) called his 1991 support for Justice Clarence Thomas a mistake Sunday. Thomas, he said, had “rebelled” against “his own background and experiences.” Clyburn never said “race traitor.” Those were the words he chose instead.
James Clyburn All Welker asked if he still stood by that decision. “Absolutely not,” Clyburn answered. He called his support for Thomas a mistake and said he had expected the future justice’s “background and experiences” to guide his conduct on the bench.
It got uglier from there. Clyburn said he expected Thomas to follow certain decisions involving voting and civil rights. "I had no idea that Clarence Thomas would rebel the way he has against his own background and experiences.

I had 10 years with him as my legislator He pushes every form of segregation to shut anyone out other than people who qualify by race.
I hope Clyburn enjoys his remaining four MONTHS in congress. That’s what he has left.
In other words, Thomas didn’t do what every SCOTUS Justice is “supposed” to do, which is “evolve,” a dog-whistle term for “become a leftist progressive.”
Also, black followers of Booker T. Washington are no longer considered black. To be truly black, one has to follow W.E. B. DuBois, and/or Elijah Muhammed, and/or Maulana Karenga. It’s like saying that to be truly American one has to be a follower of Eugene McCarthy, and/or Bernie Sanders, and/or the James Talarico School of Christianity.

If Thomas is a race traitor for supporting the Constitution (and therefore the United States) instead of his race, does that mean that those who would have him support his race instead of the Constitution (and therefore the United States) are traitors to the Constitution and the United States?
