There is something to be said for waiting until after a whole lotta killing’s been done. The sides get tired and the antagonists are more open to a 3rd party intervention. I wouldn’t want to be one of those killed but they are sacrificial lambs to the bigger picture.

Just watched Bill Maher say Iran killed all their people in February and we shoulda done something then when they were ripe for overthrowing instead of waiting 3 months. I disagree. When the mullahs are gone there will be 30,000 families that won’t stand for their return when the counter revolution starts up.

“Covert” visit? News of the visit is everywhere.

Up until recently, Putin didn’t want to talk about a long-term cease fire, because it seemed that the Russians had the advantage and were moving forward (although he wouldn’t give that as the reason for not wanting a cease fire).

Lately, Zelensky has been less eager for a cease fire, as the tide seems to be turning somewhat, and Ukraine seems to be making significant progress, at least in some areas.

Unfortunately, I doubt if there will be serious talks until the battle lines become somewhat closer to the original boundaries of each nation.

The war will end when Putin sends a “covert” guy over the pond.

Nothing to do with boundaries.

It's a war of attrition.

There are many possible reasons, Barak, but he’s not telling you or anyone at Axios, for goodness sakes!

My three anonymous sources say no such idea was discussed.
