Two members of the Milligan University cycling team were killed, and several more were injured, in a collision with a vehicle on a rural highway in eastern Tennessee on Wednesday morning, state officials and the school confirmed. A driver has been arrested.
In a news conference Wednesday night, Milligan University President Dr. Stephen Waers said 11 cyclists were on a training ride when the crash occurred at about 8 a.m. local time. Waers said two cyclists were killed and seven others were hospitalized.

“Collision”? That’s when two cars hit each other. Not when a car runs over eleven cyclists.
Small colleges because major schools cannot offer ANYTHING outside mainstream sports.
But this is deranged. Ran over college students in this ride.
When I lived in the mountains outside Asheville I was returning up the twisty curvy mountain road I lived on. There’s one streach of about a half mile that’s straight with a steep grade , and as I cam around the corner thee were about 50 cyclists all over the road. I downshifted, slammed on my brakes and stopped until they had all passed. No warning, no signs posted, just 50 cyclists lucky the hadn’t been all the way down or enetering the curve, because everyone accelerates around the curve getting ready to go up the steep straight away.
Were they coasting down the wrong side of the road like so many do? A lot of bicyclists seem to think they have magical protection.
Even if the driver is at fault, it is a grave risk to ride in traffic. A biker will always lose against a car.
RIP to the young men who lost their lives and may the injured recover quickly and fully.
I have ridden my Trek over the years and have to beware of everything. I’ll need to add a brighter light to mine. They need INDYCAR-grade rear “rain” lights that will be bright enough for motorists to see.
It is a stupid sport to begin with!
I’m sure they confiscated the driver’s smart phone and dash cam SIM card
The driver hit 9 of the 11? Almost had to be deliberate. Hang him.
allahu akbar?
I know of two crosswalks on busy two lane streets where almost no cars stop. Both have big signs with a picture of a person walking across. I taught my grandchildren that they should wait until cars either stop ( just about never) or until there are no cars coming. The car ( driver) will be in the wrong, but they will be in the hospital or dead.
I have watched countless pedestrians and people on bikes walk and ride respectively in front of cars without looking or following your simple common sense advice on a YouTube channel collisioncam. Quite amazing, but never good for them. As you say: “The car ( driver) will be in the wrong, but they will be in the hospital or dead.”
The death penalty is in order when you kill and maim so many young people. Who have their whole life ahead of them. Accident? bullshit!
I am sure some of the injured have life changing injuries.
