The New York Times is not a legitimate newspaper. It is not just that it is absurdly biased. It is not just that pretty much every story is driven by obsessive hatred of Donald Trump. The Times can’t be trusted not to lie about the most basic facts.

Thus, this is how the Times characterizes the shooting of Alex Pretti:

After Alex Pretti was fatally shot while filming officers, the government
conducted expansive surveillance, infiltrated group chats and obtained financial
records of organizations never accused of crimes.

“Alex Pretti was fatally shot while filming officers.” That is a flat-out lie. Pretti was shot while fighting with several ICE agents when he was armed with a pistol. He was shot when the officers realized he was armed and, rightly or wrongly, thought he was trying to use his weapon against them. The investigation continues, but one thing we know for sure is that Pretty was not “shot while filming officers.”

The New York Times is a disgrace. You have a better chance of getting a truthful story from the rankest tabloid or the most suspect Twitter account.

I was a 40 year reader of the NYT (1976-2016) I knew they always leaned left in their news coverage and I generally ignored their editorial page. Then in 2016 during the campaign they declared that they were nor to cover candidate Trump in an even handed manner. Then all the planted and false stories began to fly.That was the straw that broke the camel's back moment for me.

There is huge difference between leaning left (or leaning right) and just flat out making stuff up and the NYT these days just dutifully posts DNC talking points and fabricates stuff on behalf of them. It's a shame because I really enjoyed their non political stuff. (Travel, Technology. Sports, Food and Cooking, etc)
