"Congressman John Larson is well-positioned to win the Democratic primary election for Connecticut’s First District.
Larson leads former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin by 23 points, 49 to 26 percent with 9 percent for State Representative Jillian Gilchrest and 15 percent undecided or supporting other candidates. Larson enjoys near universal name recognition (92 percent), is well liked (76 percent view him favorably) and voters believe he delivers for Connecticut (80 percent say that it describes Larson well). He wins all regions of the district, across the ideological spectrum and among voters over 50 years (71 percent of the electorate). What’s more, Larson maintains his lead throughout the survey, including after he is attacked for being older and having “been in office too long.”

Larson (the long time incumbent) lost to Bronin yesterday by eighteen points.
What happened?
Larson has been in there forever. Usually that means safety. Strange things are afoot in the Democrat party. First District includes Hartford. Hartford and New Haven are likely DSA strongholds. They are not as strong in the former Litchfield County (Connecticut got rid of Counties, in favor of régions administratives, not kidding)
The problem with the DSA explanation is that Bronin is not one of their fair haired boys.
He is the ultimate corporate whore and had big corporate contributions from out of state.
The leftists hated him when he was mayor of Hartford.
Look at his bio:

The DSA had two minor candidates they supported.
Something else is afoot here.
I have a hypothesis—but I want to see if any Freepers independently come up with a similar one.
I think we are looking at something new—has nothing to do with ideology.
It is a new technique to stay way below the radar to overcome the significant and very real support of the incumbent—without having any major policy differences.
I think I know how Bronin did it.
Well, you have me stumped. We moved out of Connecticut 28 years ago, and I observe from afar, and from seconf hand sources.
When people ask me where I am from, I tell them, Krypton. My home planet blew up years ago.
I believe New Haven started as a separate colony from Connecticut, just as Plymouth Colony was initially separate from Massachusetts Bay Colony. Just imagine—we could now have 8 New England states with 15 Democrat Senators and one RINO Senator.
Telling people you are from Krypton might strike them as a Kryptic answer.
Maybe we can dig together:

So—I wonder if these folks have developed a new AI tool—an “agent” that takes the data of likely primary voters, analyzes their preferences, conducts focus groups and polls to see where and how they can be influenced, analyzes and even develops tools to assist primary turnout and comes up with other creative ways to influence undecided primary voters.
We could be looking at something very new—and potentially very important in future elections.
Folks here like to minimize the status of AI based on curated versions released to the public.
Bronin may have gotten an uncurated version programmed to win baby win.
Virginia should get back the two counties West Virginia stole (Berkeley and Jefferson). In return Virginia should return Arlington County and most of Alexandria to the District of Criminals. Then Republicans might have a shot at carrying the state in Presidential elections.
CT has been communist run for many decades...
Election outcomes are fully controlled...
Your statement has been true for decades.
That is why this genuine political upset is a legitimate mystery.
Both parties are kicking Incumbents to the curb. It seems to me like this could be the first year that history has been made in the number of incumbents that were kicked out.
Katie Porter on CNN said something interesting. She stated the republicans got the jump on replacing long term elected’s years ago while democrats stayed with the geezers too long. Now the DSP’s are coming down harder on their establishment types who’ve been around too long. It would suggest there’ll be several retirements on their side. Trump should goad them into fighting the insurgents.
Katie got a makeover and looked ok if you can believe it.
