The allegations are linked to a video Tyler Boebert, then 18, is accused of recording in 2024 with a 17-year-old.
The son of Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., was arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, authorities said Monday.
Tyler Boebert, 21, was taken into custody Sunday and later released on $10,000 bond, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Tyler Boebert did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“I love my son,” Lauren Boebert said in a statement Monday. “We take allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.”
It was not immediately clear whether Tyler Boebert has a lawyer to speak on his behalf. An attorney who previously represented him in a separate case did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The charges are linked to a 2024 video Tyler Boebert allegedly recorded with a 17-year-old, according to an affidavit in support of an arrest warrant.
The girl’s mother later alerted authorities that a video showing her daughter and Tyler Boebert having sex was posted on Instagram, the affidavit says. The affidavit does not say who is alleged to have posted the video.
He was 18 at the time and 11 months older than the victim, according to the arrest affidavit. The girl turned 18 three weeks after the illicit footage was shot on Feb. 1, 2024, authorities said.
Tyler Boebert was charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, court records show.
He was previously arrested on charges police described as a string of vehicle trespass and property thefts.
That case continues, according to Colorado Public Radio.
After her son was arrested in 2024, Lauren Boebert said he had been through “some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn’t ask for.”
“It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track,” she said. “I will never give up on him, and I will continue to be there for him.”

Sounds like a political-media hit job.
18 to 17 shouldn’t generally be a life ending crime.
I get its dumb for him to have recorded it, whoever posted it matters a lot here.
Recording that seems pretty stupid.
It’s not the age difference here. It’s that he recorded it.
This was a very classy hit. The author waited 25 words before mentioning Republican.
Throughout much of recorded history, in many cultures, marriage (and often the start of family life) commonly occurred before age 18, frequently around or shortly after puberty. Legal minima were often set at 12 for girls and 14 for boys, derived from Roman law and later adopted into Christian canon law.
When the age difference is,in fact,only 11 months I thought that most states wouldn’t prosecute.

If it was mutually agreed intimacy, Colorado appears to have a Romeo & Juliet close-in-age exception.
This is only media-worthy as a political hit job. Nothing like Hunter's exploits or pay-for-play with the Big Guy smell of graft & corruption at the very highest level of government.
If he's not a true deviant, this should not ruin his life.
People keep saying the age difference wasn’t the issue but the article says he exploited a child.
When I was 16 I got arrested for "contributing to the delinquency of a minor" for giving a 15yo girl a ride in my car to her boyfriend's house. IIRC the judge threw it out. This was in the late 70's.

That’s just low class gross.
I know the world has changed - but couples sharing intimate photos with *each other* goes back a long way.
But posting or sharing in any kind of way that is or could easily - even via nefarious means?
Just gross, low class, and speaks to horrendously awful moral character.
I heard < 3 years age difference no crime.

Scroll up four articles and read about the 17yo in Iran who was forced into marriage, and then hung because she defended herself.
The 17yo here was double stupid, first for handing herself over to a classmate, and second for making a recording, everything that’s recorded gets seen someday. But stupid in the US isn’t the same as hung in Iran. Remember this the next time a Muslim gets elected.
A seventeen year old is not a child. There are twelve states where legal consent for sex is age seventeen or younger.
Doesn’t it though. Still doesn’t excuse her giving some dude (Democrat) a handsy in the theater.
Non-issue. Colorado’s age of consent is 17, and Romeo & Juliet Law applies here.
