Hope you got a little R&R today. Or did you play “catch-up” with stuff again? :-)
Another really hazy day up there. The Lake Hood cam op had a hard time seeing the Blue Angels in order to track them during their show, the haze is so thick. Much worse than yesterday. GACK!
Mostly sunny and hot here but I was able to get a little mowing done! Cuz was here, as well, mowing along the driveway with the tractor. This place might look civil again one day. LOL
A military analyst for MS MEOW? Doesn’t compute.

Half a dozen jets were out over my side of the town. Only one almost overhead...still loud. And I got out in time to see it....really high.

Great weekend, many thanks - Mrs cal and I celebrated our 22d anniversary (actual date Fri) by traipsing around Fredericksburg, TX. Warm and lots of walking but good exercise for someone who had abdominal surgery six weeks ago.
I only got about a quarter of the back yard done today. I tackled the end where the grass was longest and thickest, going for it while I had the chance. It was dry enough but rain was coming and it would have set me back. Had to go over every swath two, sometimes three, times or else I would have covered more territory.
The foot’s a little unhappy but not too bad. It was fine until I finished and went to the shop to blow the grass off me and Champ. I have to get down on my knees to blow the mess out from under the mower deck, and getting up and down was tricky.
It’ll be fine though. After sitting a little while, it already feels better.
That half a dozen jets was the Blue Angels. I just finished watching today’s show on the LH cam. So glad we can rewind that stream. I noticed they went way over towards your side of town again and hoped you got to see some of them. We can’t hear them on the cam because they’re too far away but the cam has great zoom and we can see them well. You got to see one up close though. And hear it. I’m jealous. LOL
Glad your foot’s first outing has ended fairly well, and should only get better each day.
If you could hear the jets, your cats might have not been very happy. LOL!
I only saw 2, but heard them all. I could see a couple, with cameras, over on the school yard. That might be a good place to set up a chair....none of my trees to block more of the sky to the north and Elmendorf.

I LOVE Fredericksberg! Have shopped there a lot of times, but not anytime recently.
I just have to be careful not to overdo it. There’s SO much to catch up on around the yard and I have to pace myself.
The kitties get wake-up calls often when I have the LH cam up. Not jets but the seaplanes when they take off. They go right past the cam and are pretty loud.
A shame you didn’t think to go over to the schoolyard today. Might have gotten a better look at the jets.

He entered military service through Rutgers University's Army ROTC program, where he earned B.A. and M.A. degrees, and received the Medal of Honor in 1969 for exceptional heroism on the battlefields of Vietnam. He also holds two Silver Stars, three Bronze Stars, and two Purple Heart Medals. Jacobs was an advisor to a Vietnamese infantry battalion when it came under a devastating fire that disabled the commander. Although bleeding from severe head wounds, then 1LT Jacobs took command, withdrew the unit to safety, and returned again and again under intense fire to rescue the wounded and perform life-saving first aid. He saved the lives of a U.S. advisor and 13 allied soldiers.

Jacobs (then 1st Lt.), Infantry, distinguished himself while serving as assistant battalion adviser, 2d Battalion, 16th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, Army of the Republic of Vietnam. The 2d Battalion was advancing to contact when it came under intense heavy machine gun and mortar fire from a Viet Cong battalion positioned in well fortified bunkers. As the 2d Battalion deployed into attack formation its advance was halted by devastating fire. Capt. Jacobs, with the command element of the lead company, called for and directed air strikes on the enemy positions to facilitate a renewed attack. Due to the intensity of the enemy fire and heavy casualties to the command group, including the company commander, the attack stopped and the friendly troops became disorganized. Although wounded by mortar fragments, Capt. Jacobs assumed command of the allied company, ordered a withdrawal from the exposed position and established a defensive perimeter. Despite profuse bleeding from head wounds which impaired his vision, Capt. Jacobs, with complete disregard for his safety, returned under intense fire to evacuate a seriously wounded adviser to the safety of a wooded area where he administered lifesaving first aid. He then returned through heavy automatic weapons fire to evacuate the wounded company commander. Capt. Jacobs made repeated trips across the fire-swept open rice paddies evacuating wounded and their weapons. On 3 separate occasions, Capt. Jacobs contacted and drove off Viet Cong squads who were searching for allied wounded and weapons, single-handedly killing 3 and wounding several others. His gallant actions and extraordinary heroism saved the lives of 1 U.S. adviser and 13 allied soldiers. Through his effort the allied company was restored to an effective fighting unit and prevented defeat of the friendly forces by a strong and determined enemy. Capt. Jacobs, by his gallantry and bravery in action in the highest traditions of the military service, has reflected great credit upon himself, his unit, and the U.S. Army.
