Trump ‘clashes with Hegseth’ over missile shortages
The Telegraph ^ | 08/06/2026 | Emily Smith

Donald Trump clashed with Pete Hegseth over a claim that a US munitions shortage could limit his options in the Iran war, according to reports.

The US president confronted his defence secretary at Camp David, his country retreat in Maryland, demanding to know why he had been misled about the missile shortage.

The clash occurred on the sidelines of Mr Trump’s cabinet meeting on Friday, at which he said that he thought the missile issue “had been fixed”, two people familiar with the matter told the Washington Post.

The White House dismissed the claims as “fake news”, denying that the encounter had taken place.

The US has reportedly used “virtually all” of its missile stockpiles as the Iran war drags into its sixth month. The shortages, understood to be of long-range guided missiles and air-defence interceptors, allegedly contributed to it pulling back from new strikes in recent days.

Mr Trump said on Monday that he had ordered, and then called off, “the biggest attack since World War Two”.

Mr Hegseth blamed Stephen Feinberg, his deputy, for the shortages and for not ensuring Mr Trump was aware of the issue, the sources said.

The defence department’s second-in-command later gathered top military and defence specialists for a meeting on Friday night to address the issue after receiving an angry phone call from the president.

Mr Trump expressed frustration that the Pentagon’s munitions shortfall was affecting whether he could expand his operation in Iran, four people with knowledge of the meeting told NBC.

he even suggested that Mr Feinberg should be fired, demanding to know how the Pentagon was fixing the problem.

The meeting convened by Mr Feinberg after the call was described as “a crisis meeting”. He has taken a leading role in attempting to replenish the munitions stockpile.***

Characteristics of Splitting

All-or-nothing extremes: Seeing people or events as entirely good or entirely bad

Idealization and devaluation: Rapidly switching between viewing someone as wonderful and flawless to seeing them as awful.

No middle ground: An inability to tolerate ambiguity, complexity, or "shades of gray" in thoughts and emotions.

It’s possible that this disagreement did not happen.

But there’s no question that Hegseth did admit to stockpile shortages back in April. And there’s no question that he later walked back his remarks in June.

Look who is promoting this “story” - Washington Post and the Telegraph

It’s the same controlled deep-state journalistic BS they always pull - spin a fake political narrative of conflict and chaos by building a manufactured story on the words of “unnamed insiders.”

Regurgitated from a WaPo story "anonymously" sourced.

Another official claiming to be present said the story was a fabrication.

The Deep State has it in for Hegseth- first it will be the deputy, and if he resigns, Hegseth will be blamed for that, too: "poor leadership on Hegseth's part", "Pentagon in disarray," blah, blah, blah.

If you've been reading the liberal media as long as I have, the stories already write themselves because you've already seen the same line of BS a hundred times for every Republican President.

Both Trump and Hegseth cannot be right on this one,

Either we have enough ammo to finish the job in Iran or we don’t.

How can a $1trillion annual defense budget allow for us running out of munitions?

The war was supposed to last a few weeks and the intel they decided to use gave very little chances of Iran bombing US bases and infrastructure in neighboring countries. The chances that they would close the SOH was also sold as low because it was supposed to be over quickly after the Iranian people rise up and throw out the mullahs and all the bad guys.

The misinformation and poor intel led to needing a whole lot more defensive missiles than we were prepared for as it has become much longer that anticipated. We were unable to supply the whole middle east with never ending supplies of patriots.

Even at that, our bases still had the hell bombed out of them.

I am throwing the BS Flag.

The numbers of munitions are Top Secret.
The idea that they are out is coming from an AntiTrump Think Tank.

Brit newspapers like The Telegraph, The Guardian, and The Daily Mirror aren't worth lining a cat's litter box. Generally I don't care for the Brits. Snobby gits who've never gotten over getting their butts kicked out of here twice.

Sorry, this story has been debunked. Karoline Leavitt, who publicly said she was at Camp David during this time stated the story is false.
