Suspect in alleged gang rape of LSU student Madison Brooks wants to ban pink attire from courtroom

A Louisiana man accused of gang raping Louisiana State University student Madison Brooks before she was fatally hit by a car has asked that Brooks’ supporters be banned from wearing pink in the courtroom at his trial.

Desmond Carter, 21, who is charged with others of sexually assaulting Brooks, 19, in a car in Baton Rouge in 2023 just before her death, claimed that Brooks’ family and friends have repeatedly worn pink – Brooks’ favorite color — in court in an effort to intimidate the jury into a guilty verdict, according to WBRZ.

Carter’s lawyers pointed to several social media posts of family and friends asking people to attend court sessions wearing the color pink to ensure Carter spends the rest of his life behind bars.

Prosecutor Sonya Cardia-Porter, who has asked the motion be denied, called the allegations an “absurd exaggeration” and “unpersuasive,” describing Brooks’ supporters as “silent, passive spectators wearing a particular color.”

The stunt violates Carter’s right to a fair trial, which is scheduled to begin on Aug. 17, by creating a “carnival atmosphere,” Carter’s attorneys claimed in a motion filed in June, citing previous Supreme Court decisions.*** A judge is expected to make a decision on Tuesday.

Carter currently faces charges of first-degree and third-degree rape.

Brooks, a 19-year-old college sophomore, was allegedly raped in the backseat of a car by Carter, who was 17 at the time but is being tried as an adult, KaivonWashington, 21, and Casen Carver, 22 after the group left Reggie’s bar in East Baton Rouge where Brooks worked and they had been drinking heavily in Jan. 2023.

The defendants have claimed that the encounter was consensual before they left her on the side of a roadway***

Our national leaders as well as the MSM are refusing to acknowledge and address the black crime problem.

if pink is banned maybe they could all switch to tee shirts with an electric chair stenciled on the front ... [wear a coat of sweater over the tee shirt to get in the court room]

Background.....

Madison Brooks was fatally struck by a vehicle on a Baton Rouge roadway in the early morning hours of January 16, 2023. The driver of that car has not been charged; investigators say he immediately called 911, stayed at the scene, and showed no impairment.

What led to her death
Brooks, a 19‑year‑old LSU student, had been out at a bar and later accepted what she believed was a ride home from four men she met that night. According to police and court filings, she was sexually assaulted while in their vehicle, then left intoxicated and disoriented on or near Burbank Drive, where she stumbled into traffic and was hit by an oncoming car. Her blood‑alcohol concentration was reported at 0.319%, nearly four times the legal limit for driving.

Who has been charged
Four men were arrested and charged in connection with the alleged rape that preceded her death:

Desmond Carter (then 17, to be tried as an adult): charged with third‑degree rape.

Kaivon Washington (then 18): charged with third‑degree rape; also linked to other alleged assaults.

Casen Carver (then 18): charged as a principal (accessory) to third‑degree rape; later also indicted on additional rape counts.

Everett Lee (then 28, Washington’s uncle): charged as a principal to third‑degree rape.

As of 2025, some of the defendants had trial dates set and were litigating evidentiary issues (for example, whether Brooks’ sexual history could be introduced), but none have been charged with causing the collision itself.

Bad decision-making will lead to bad outcomes.

More bad decision-making, which will lead to bad outcomes for those people.

BTR has been loaded with New Orleans riff-raff since Katrina. When I was at LSU, it was a great town.
Of course that was over 50 years ago.

Did they give her drugs on top of her intoxication? That would not surprise me, because they would have wanted no resistance whatsoever.

Death penalty, administered slowly only thing that will slow this apelike behavior down.

Putting dangerous animals down it the only answer.

At 0.319 BAC they probably didn’t “need” to. Going to a bar, at age 19, getting skunk-drunk, and going “home” with 4 total strangers, is a whole train-wreck of bad decision-making. I’m sure people have gotten away with it, but the odds aren’t good.

Yes, the four rapists need to spend a lot of time in prison.

Yes, there are a lot of ways to avoid becoming a victim.

Everyone on FR knew what this cockroach looked like even before viewing the photograph.
We knew right down to the rat's nest for hair.

Back in the good old days, Southern men would have already taken care of business.

.319 BAC is very very very drunk. That often occurs in a young person who is inexperienced in drinking, and doesn't realize that they've crossed their limit.

“...the group [of black rapists] left Reggie’s bar in East Baton Rouge where Brooks worked”

“Her blood‑alcohol concentration was reported at 0.319%, nearly four times the legal limit for driving.”

Was she working the night she was raped and (essentially) murdered? In my experience, people who work in bars don’t generally drink there and sure don’t get drunk there. Did those bastards pour booze down her throat?

was she drinking heavily or were the rapists? If she was drinking heavily with these guys, someone forgot to give her the memo.
