Trump ballroom begins to rise above the ground at the White House despite court case to stop construction

The Trump administration is racing ahead with President Donald Trump’s White House ballroom project, which is now rising from the ground even as a court case to stop the project continues.

Recent photos of the ongoing construction, highlighted by the New York Times, show that crews have assembled the framing of the first floor of the East Wing, a minor milestone indicating construction has progressed from strictly bunker-related to above-ground.

The ascent is occurring quickly – before a federal appeals court can rule whether or not the administration violated the law by knocking down the historic East Wing and beginning construction without Congress’s approval. Trump has long bragged about the ballroom project, which has soared to $600M in costs. In addition to the ballroom the project also calls for a new underground bunker at the site.

Note the deceptive headline.”Despite the court case”, implying Trump is defying a court order. There is always a court case pending for every single thing Trump does. The courts have already ruled Trump can build this.

It would be nice if a good public relations attempt is made to reveal to the public that this is a very positive remodel and all the good reasons about added security for the future, etc., etc., and so on, we need a structural victory story right now rather than just another, ha, ha, in your face critics, “I got it done anyway”.

Turn this into a victory of masterful modern construction of bringing White House security into the present and the future, a break through modernization that preserves the classic lines while incorporating the latest anti-attack technology, a win for the public and for America, and for White House operations in a dangerous world.

Explain it to the public, justify it to the public, make the public ooh and ahh at it and be proud of it.

Yep, Tagline is still accurate.

Mayor Daley destroyed the iconic Meigs Field runway in Chicago in the dead of night without permission. He managed to make it stick.

It’s too bad it got labeled as a Ballroom instead of what it really is and will be...The White House Conference Center...Amphitheater...or something in that vein...

I agree with you. PR is ignored with this admin way too often. It helps build support and some enthusiasm for the final product.

Unfortunately, the news media will not fairly report what Trump and his allies say in defense of the ballroom. The completed project and its public unveiling for a first event will become the turning point.

Yep, ballroom was the worst possible word, although under Obama it would have been massaged into a more elegant, refined, flattering word, the media would have given it the JFK ‘Camelot’ treatment and made it sound positive for the Presidential seat of government.

This ballroom is probably the last thing I worry about regarding Trump.

Trump is funding it all, it’s useful, it’s pretty, it’s more practical than the old way.

Furthermore, the old east wing was NOT “original” or historic or whatever liberals are calling it now to invalidate Trump ordering it down. It was nice, it was fine, but it didn’t go up until at least Teddy. It’s not original, it’s not traditional, per se.

I think it’s a good idea and if he’s not using tax dollars to do it, so much the better.

It would be fun to see if the communists try to rip it down once it’s built.
