In Kentucky, August 3 is a critical deadline regarding U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell's seat. Due to a 2024 state law, if a Senate vacancy happens after August 3—which is 56 days prior to the November general election—a special election cannot take place, meaning the seat could potentially remain vacant until a new senator is elected.
How blatantly fraudulent.
The people of KY and all of America should be beyond outraged, if this comes to pass.

Outside of the manipulation, the first thing that occured to me is . . . how pathetic.
Here is a man, with an eternal soul, made in the likeness and Image of God, fallen, as all of us are. He should be able to face death with real dignity, not the euthanasia perversion of it, where he is given an appropriate level of care, and regarded first as a mortal man.
He is a Senator, which in the normal realm would command respect and honor if he was any good at it (and some people obviously thought he was good enough).
He is instead, treated like a computer with a failing hard drive, that has to be kept online until the new system is available, lest the systems it is connected to fail. A reboot cannot be risked. He must be kept in sleep mode, ready to be put aside until the replacement is ready.
The whole thing just strikes me as sad. It is not how I would want to die, like someone in a Twilight Zone episode hardly living as he holds off Mr. Death.

But I don’t believe he is dead and I don’t believe he is braindead. He’s just very frail, possible in full blown dementia. But I don’t believe he’s dead - today.

Trump could in his authority force a “proof of life raid” due to the need to maintain governmental continuity. They politicans don’t have rights to play games like this. If McConnell is still alive but feeble and will be unable to perform his duties and the political play(John Thune messing around) is to run out the clock past August 3 before announcing a “resignation”...well I guess there is nothing to do about it legally. Slimy but legal. If he is actually dead we definitely have the right to know so that the critical Senate appointment process can take place! Forget about “family privacy” for the senator in this case, the nation’s priorities come first!
Trump could announce that he believes McConnell dead and proceed on that basis and dare the GOP to prove that he isn’t!
Yeah - and there are two HUGE issues related to kicking off a special election. And why does everyone keep pretending they don’t exist?
First of all, a statewide race in a state that just reelected a Democrat governor is absolutely NOT a guaranteed win for Republicans. And Democrats are MUCH better at mobilizing fast get-out-the-vote drives than Republicans. Be careful what you wish for.
Second, Beshear has ALREADY said he finds the special election law unconstitutional both at the state and federal level and intends to challenge it - and frankly he might win that case. In which case there is NO special election and he appoints a DEMOCRAT.
If we find out McConnell is literally dead or brain dead and they have been hiding it from us, then I am as disgusted as anyone else. Honesty first. But if McConnell is alive and responsive, then shut up. We’re better off waiting for the general election and have better chances of winning that.
But what is his state? I do agree it’s unacceptable we are so i nthe dark on what his status is.
