US President Donald Trump said Monday that talks with Iran would proceed in two phases and described the negotiations as Tehran’s “last chance” to sign an agreement.

He said the first phase would focus on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with the goal of having it “completely open” by Tuesday.

“The second phase will be the denuclearization,” Trump said, adding that Iran “cannot have a nuclear weapon.”

We’ve heard this story before. Let’s hope this is Armageddon for them this time.

This song has more verses than an invitation hymn in an old time Baptist Church.

Trump can’t declare victory and get out

Of he leaves the Iranians will have complete control of the straits and run gasoline to 10$ per gallon

Then what will trump do ???

Trump will need to finish them off. And he needs to do what the allies and Americans did to Japan

Iran needs to be finished

Even if Iran signs it, they will not honor it. Why? Because they have no honor. Few terrorists do.

Trump needs to read the story about the boy that cried wolf..if something does go down no one will believe him. In fact in Israel, twice already there have been people thinking OK this is it, they are striking, the whole country is on alert and NOTHING happens

I think the leaking over the weekend ruined it. Someone in this Administration is trying to sabotage this war, so they are leaking to the press, non stop on Saturday it was like a faucet..when I saw the first leak I knew nothing was going to happen. You cant have a war without an element of surprise otherwise its worthless

Another one?

This is looking too much like Obama’s red-line-in-the-sand — which kept getting moved around.

> And he needs to do what the allies and Americans did to Japan <

FDR had a Declaration of War in his pocket. Plus he had the full support of Congress and the American people. This gave FDR complete freedom of action. And that included ordering massive ground invasions.

Trump has none of FDR’s advantages. So Trump has a much more limited range of action.

I fear that Trump has painted himself into a corner here. No real way out.

He doesn’t need to “finish” IRAN. He needs to utilize an international military force to once and for all capture and take total control of the Strait of Hormuz. Place a defensive position there composed of military forces from an international composition of forces including those nations dependent on the Srait of Hormuz being open for business. Stop allowing lunatics in Iran to determine world economic conditions by keeping the Strait of Hormuz in their control.

“I don’t understand what President Trump is doing.”

He’s trying to surrender essential US interests and make it look like he won.

It’s an impossible task.

RE: Tehran’s “last chance” to sign an agreement

The whole thing raises more questions:

1. If this “agreement” ( note the quotes ) is ever signed, does it even represent the current Iranian government?

2. For that matter, what is the Iranian government today? On the one hand, Trump tells us that “Iran” (note the quotes again ) is asking to talk, on the other hand there’s public announcement coming from “Iran” saying that there are no such talks… these contradictory public announcements have been going on since the “negotiations” started several months ago.

I cannot help but conclude that this whole on-again, off-again attempts to reach an agreement is a waste of time.

… utilize an international military force to once and for all capture and take total control of the Strait of Hormuz.

A capital idea that might have worked if Donald Trump had not insulted and alienated every ally, every potential ally, and every nation we would like to help form an international military force.

We have only begun to reap the bitter harvest of Trump's needlessly offensive policies towards NATO.

I’ve been posting about the similarities of the nursery story about the boy who cried wolf and Trumps handling of this Iran fiasco. Hopefully this has a better ending than that story.

Apparently our POTUS has no issue with being a worldwide laughing stock.

Must be part of the plan.
