Reform says it would use Navy to stop small boats

Reform UK says it would use the military to forcibly return small boat migrants to France.

The plans, unveiled on Monday, suggest military personnel would accompany migrants back to ports on the other side of the English Channel, overriding French objections if necessary.

The party claim the proposals would form the "largest military operation" in the Channel since World War Two.

But opponents have branded the plan unworkable, with the Conservatives saying the policy is not credible.

Under Reform UK's plans if it enters government, military-crewed inflatable boats deployed from Navy patrol vessels would be used to "come alongside" boats crossing the Channel.

Border Force officers and police would be tasked with arresting people in the boats, before they would then be returned to France or Belgium by Royal Navy personnel or Marines.

Speaking at a news conference to announce the plans, Reform's home affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf said the party would seek to disembark them at ports with the agreement of the French government.

But he claimed the party would show "unflinching resolve" to make sure returns happened in any circumstances.

"We would far rather disembark people in port, walk people down a gangway and hand them to the French authorities properly," he added.

"But if the Elysee Palace refuses, make no mistake - His Majesty's Royal Marines will disembark them safely on the very shore they left that morning".

Sink them first. Pick up the survivors, give them a hot drink, and dump them on a French beach with some blankets.

How many years before HMS’s navy can get repaired and leave port?

Add to that that all illegal immigrants, including those now in the country, will be summarily flown back to their home country without a hearing or appeal. Let them know that attempting to enter illegally will be a useless effort.

At this point, the Royal Navy is an international joke. As sorry as the Russian navy is, it outclasses the British.

US leads in global projection, China leads in theater strength. While Russia on paper is third, it probably ranks behind France and India in ability to project surface force.

Britain does out class the Peruvian navy but lags behind Italy.

All efforts are useless unless the UK leaves the European Convention on Human Rights, whose court will veto all sensible efforts to stop the migration.

The other obvious draw is the treatment the invaders receive upon landing, debit cards, hotel accommondation, release into the population. Ship them off to migrant camps on unoccupied islands off of Scotland and this would end quickly.

Presumably they still have some smaller machine gun / machine cannon-armed coastal craft.

Capable seagoing destroyers and even frigates appears to be another story.

It’s utterly amazing that this proposal is in any way controversial. The Royal Navy that repelled the Armada, defeated Napoleon and deterred Hitler is no more. Now, Britain is open for invasion.

But opponents have branded the plan unworkable

Of course they said this. They are A-OK with the UK being flooded with infinity, destitute, often violent, military-aged men.

It would be ridiculously easy to stop the boats immediately - either start sinking each one or turn them back under the threat of sinking. Others would get the message immediately.

sink their little boats. pick up survivors and drop them back to France which let them launch in the first place

nothing radical about that, except maybe the Navy is no longer able to do it?
