The only answer I ever got to that question, was in effect, that if I ever opened my mouth and asked a question like that again to a ‘’senior administrator’’ I’d be fired.

Sounds like that person was an idiot. I'd have at least been able to come up with some smooth platitude about being equal in value but with diverse perspectives, and made some analogy about a table with four equal legs, but the legs are in different corners, otherwise it would fall over.

I don't think diversity is our strength, however.
