The French government has revealed that an estimated ninety per cent of so-called wildfires are the result of human activity, undermining the persistent media narrative that climate change is driving spontaneous fires ravaging the countryside.
On Tuesday, French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said that 184 people have been arrested in connection with wildfires since the beginning of the summer. Those arrested are a combination of arsonists, criminals, and careless individuals, he said.
According to the French Forest Observatory, around one in three (30 per cent) of wildfires are believed to have been set maliciously, Le Figaro reported.
In total, the Ministry of the Interior estimated that nine in ten wildfires in France were started by humans. The Place Beauvau said that since June, five people have been imprisoned and a further 15 have been placed in detention pending a trial.
A conviction for starting a fire can come with serious consequences, particularly if the fire resulted in deaths. Following a strengthening of the laws surrounding the issue in 2004 in the wake of a deadly heatwave.

1968 I started a career as an Insurance Investigator. My Westside of Chicago had many fires when MLK was assassinated in April 64. It was my job to investigate and report to insurance companies on the westside properties they insured.
Half of the “riot fires” were started by protestors and gang members who took my friend Doug Andrews word in Garfield Park seriously.
Half the “riot fires” were started by landlords seeking to collect the insurance. They would store a lawnmower and gasoline for the lawnmower next to the open flame of the furnace or hotwater tank. With a little incentive the apartment building went poof. The only suspicious thing was that those inner city apartment buildings had no lawn and no need for a lawnmower.
When there were no riots, half the fires were careless use of smoking material, etc and half were arson by the absentee landlord. The single biggest arson organization was the Axelrod organization that ran the 24th ward and had recently assassinated Alderman Ben Lewis for so much as sniffing a path independent of the machine. Axelrod clan ran the A&A Auto Parts store on Ashland Ave and whose employees were facilitators for much mayhem.
The Axelrod clan of the westside and Northwest side ...and later northside... is not to be confused with the Supreme S&L clan who operated in the same scam on the Northwest and West side of Chicago but was centered in the Southwest side of Chicago.

Big fire in Spokane today, hundreds of homes in great neighborhood are gone and the air smells awful My daughter looked for a. house there a few months ago but fortunately decided she wanted more land and bought a really nice home an hour’s drive from town.

The initial cause can be natural, human accidental or human deliberate. Which of these applies in any particular case is irrelevant to the rate of spread, and it’s the rate of spread which is dependent on the current ground conditions, and which determines the seriousness of the consequences.

Started by humans but “green” environmental policies contribute too. The Greens are against fire prevention measures like cutting fire breaks in forests, clearing brush and managing forests.
