A man accused of killing one person and injuring another in an east Charlotte apartment complex shooting appeared before a Mecklenburg County judge Friday after initially refusing to leave his jail cell.

David Simpson, 29, is facing charges for the Dunlavin Way shooting Wednesday. Simpson is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious harm, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

A woman identified as Simpson's girlfriend, Shakema Scott, was also charged with accessory after the fact.

The shooting happened outside an apartment complex around 1:45 a.m., according to a CMPD incident report. Court records show Simpson posted bond for unrelated charges on Tuesday and was released from Mecklenburg County jail around 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, a few hours before the deadly shooting.

Simpson was scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday morning but refused to come out of his jail cell, delaying the hearing until the afternoon after a judge ordered him to appear.

According to an affidavit,  the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute over a parking space in front of the apartment. Neighbors told detectives there had been a history of conflict over the parking spot.

Court records show Simpson posted bond Tuesday afternoon after being arrested for failing to appear in court on a separate case involving a 2024 charge of possession of a weapon by a prisoner. He was released from jail and hours later the shooting happened.

Some people are so stupid or so dangerous they are a constant danger to society. I used to work out with a prison guard. A man released from his prison had murdered a stranger within four hours of getting out. I asked the guard and he said they were under orders to never, under any circumstances turn their back on the man. The fact that he killed someone in the same day as release was expected. I asked why he was out. He said the judge knew all about the guy, but gave him a light sentence for his crime, well below what should have been the sentence. The man served his time, and they had to let him go.

There used to be insane asylums for people like this. Yes, there were some abuses. But somehow, I’d like to see a balance where truly dangerous people are kept off the streets.

Psychopaths will never, EVER be cured.

That is one thing (among others) that I learned when I was in the mental healthcare field.

These people need to be locked away from civilized society for the rest of their lives.

Treat them humanely, of course. But they do not need to be among normals.

Israel flaunts the myth of “sharing” its intelligence, as US tax dollars blanket Israel:
<><>providing billions of US tax dollars in military aid,
<><>deploying US naval destroyers and advanced air defense systems
<><>the US intercepting incoming rockets and ballistic missiles aimed at Israel.
<><>and develops defense systems like the Israeli Iron Dome-—wholly financed by US taxpayers.

There is no “formal mutual defense treaty” that requires the U.S. to enter wars on Israel’s behalf but
rest assured, the persistent endless Israeli lobbies will get the obedient US Congress to rectify that.

Key aspects of this military relationship include Missile Defense:
<><>deploying US Navy destroyers to shoot down ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israel.
<><>US placing anti-missile batteries, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), in Israel
<><>deploying associated US troops on the ground.

Resource Constraints Surface: The extensive unlimited use of taxpayer-financed US defense assets to protect Israel has led to resource constraints.

The US taxpayer provides massive billions of assistance to Israel, primarily allocated through long-term “memorandums of understanding” intensely lobbied for by Israel.

While the US is forced to act as Israel’s primary strategic partner, due to fierce, unlimited Israeli lobbies, the extent and conditions of this military protection face growing scrutiny.

Top US commanders have warned the Pentagon that the high operational tempo is stretching US air defense fleets thin, forcing difficult decisions between prioritizing “defense of vulnerable US families at home”......or “protecting” Israel.

Reading down into the article, this was not the scum’s first killing. He took a plea deal in 2013 down from first degree murder to manslaughter. He served 7 years on that one.

“Psychopaths will never, EVER be cured.”

Considering that, it’s good that Fauci no longer is in a position of authority and decision making.

I believe we can thank our hero George Herbert Walker Bush who signed the ADA for a goodly chunk of this. It didn’t take the ACLU long to corrupt it though.

BTW, someone has said in response to one of my many criticisms of our politicians and government in general that it is an imperfect system. Things like this alone leave me to believe it is a freaking disaster. No sane system or society would tolerate this but we do every single day. We even tolerate people who celebrate it. We have legions like this chode on the prowl all over the nation.
