The Pentagon is confronting a growing reality after months of fighting Iran: America's stockpile of missile defense interceptors.
It is shrinking so much, military planners are weighing whether they can continue the current cycle of limited retaliatory strikes.
The Center for Strategic and International Studies, using open-source budget numbers provided to Congress, estimates U.S. Patriot interceptor inventories have fallen from roughly 2,300 pre-war to fewer than 827.
THAAD interceptor inventories have also dropped from 452 to fewer than 278.
CSIS warns rebuilding those stockpiles could take three years or more, raising concerns about protecting U.S. forces and bases worldwide if another major conflict erupts, for instance in the Pacific.

Call me simplistic (trust me, I call myself a lot worse than that all the time). But besides wondering why the depletion is occurring in the first place, I’m wondering why, upon recognizing that weaponry IS being depleted, there wasn’t an immediate and intensive push for the armaments manufacturers to churn out mass quantities in order to re-supply what needs to be re-supplied? Why no large-scale public relations calls for Americans to participate in whatever way they can, a la WW II?
I’d settle for a bunch of Rosie the Riveters at this point.

Its hurting but another argument can be made that we have to have a working military supply chain. If operations at this tempo are too expensive we should be finding ways to make that cheaper and more efficient for a WW III reality which is going to happen.
Not that I like a war in Iran. But we’re committed now.

Well, the Arsenal of Democracy we ain’t no more. Detroit could not build the tanks, jeeps, trucks, halftracks, and Boeing could not build the bombers; hell, it takes them 10 years to build the new AF1. Takes years to build subs, carriers and other ships, which we no longer have the capacity to build. There is no way we could handle a two-front war with weapons supply chains this broken. The stinking Dimocratic Commies have allowed the military to melt into pre-WWII status, then Trump tries to fix it, and then Biden melts it away again. The next commie prez, if Amerika lasts that long, will tear it all down again so our enemies, of which there are many, will pounce on targets of their interest. If China jumped Taiwan today, I am not sure we could handle two fronts.

Government procurement agencies, unions, and HR departments are still run by DEI villains. I did a small military contract about 10 years ago. For the two months of actual productive work I did I spent 8 months fighting with bureaucrats and pushing papers. AND even though it wasn’t that long ago. It ALL had to be done via fax machine. No small machine shop wants to deal with that, even if they were allowed to get in the defense industry easily.
And at the signing ceremony:
All AB’s. I e seen actual data that shows we are fine on everything but the Patriots. And Ukraine is starting production of those. Our supply chain is being pushed to “Go”.
