A man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after authorities say he pleaded guilty to sneaking into Canada with a loaded, prohibited handgun.
Federal RCMP officers were notified by U.S. authorities on Sept. 11, 2025, about a man illegally crossing the border crossing near 183 Street and 0 Avenue in Surrey, B.C.
Canadian border enforcement officers responded and arrested the man.
Investigators identified him as Jaskaran Banth, who was carrying a loaded handgun later determined to have been stolen in Nevada, the federal RCMP said in a statement Thursday.
Banth pleaded guilty this past May to unauthorized importation of a firearm and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, according to police.
He was sentenced on July 3 to two and a half years in prison and was handed a 10-year ban on possessing firearms, authorities said.
Staff Sgt. John Korbely says the investigation illustrates the agency’s commitment to securing the borders and keeping illegal firearms out of the country.

Idiot
Yeah, I have to disarm my truck when I go to Cali. I hate that but prefer no jail time.
A few years back I had a friend who lives in Louisiana try to cross the Canadian border.
“How many guns do you have?”
“No guns”
“Sir you are from the state of Louisiana. How many guns do you have?”
“Oh two.”
He had to take them apart and ship them home before they would let him cross.
“... a prohibited handgun...”

Are handguns prohibited in Canada?
There must be severe shortage of handguns in Canada. When you cross the border, they always ask if you have any with you!
Don’t give the Steven Wright response: “Whadya need?”

Well, he did try to stop the American attack on Canada. (Short clip from Canadian Bacon movie with John Candy).
Yes.
As of 2022, all new handguns and handgun sales are now prohibited by order of Trudeau le serin.
No-one is allowed to carry w/o a Permit to Carry, only issued to Regime insiders and their as$hole cronies.
Of course these laws are enforced via Anarcho-tyranny, where nigs and ch*nks and w0gs and turban street-sh*tters are exempt. For example.

Wow. 0 Avenue in Surrey is quite a street. There are long stretches of it where one can cross the border either way, just walking. No fence, nothing. Just go out your front door, walk across the street, and you’re in the United States.
Of course there are thousands of miles of forested wilderness where that’s also the case.
“later determined to have been stolen in Nevada,”
So, no charges related to possessing a stolen firearm? That should get him another 5 years, minimum.
Years ago on a lonely Texas highway, I was stopped by a Texas state trooper.
He hurried to the window of my blazer and said “You got any guns?”
I said I got two rifles, two shotguns and a pistol, what do you need?
On two recent west-east road trips from America, I drove AROUND Illinois. The West Coast won’t let me in with my equipment so I don’t even try.
Now I’m behind enemy lines in Colorado. There’s not much Free America anymore.
“Wolverines!”
My stock answer/comment is “All the everyday carry weaponry has been left at home. I feel naked.”
Any movie with John Candy in it made it better. This movie was even funnier because Candy was Canadian.
The sad part is it was by Michael Moooore (say that with a cow’s voice).
The good part is that it was before he (Moore) went bonkers. Still pretty funny.
“Welcome to Canada, eh? Where everything is legal except guns, knives, and freedom. Eh?”
“Moosehead is a beer, not a felony.”

29 Constitutional Carry states.
You’re surrounded on three sides.
Yeah I know circumstances pin ya down sometimes.
Was it more illegal because it was loaded ?
Yup. When we moved from FL to NV we routed through friendly states.
Yes, it sounds like a science fiction book name, but he’s probably from India.
I think so, the last time I checked.
